Personally I found this a more satisfying watch. Full of fun action sequences, cute quips and a whole lot of costume porn. Jessica Chastain was a great addition and Emily Blunt is a very interesting ice queen. It's the only film (that I can think of) that is both a prequel and a sequel, but somehow totally works as a standalone.

I am a little surprised by all the negative reviews from critics. To each their own.

I'd recommend it if you like action adventure movies with a bit of romance and comedy sprinkled in.

I thought it was better as well. Of course, I barely remember the first one, but only rated it 5/10. This one is 6/10. Emily Blunt is awesome as usual. Chastains accent is...well, but she's so lovely and believable as a tough warrior chick I didn't care. Hemsworth was more relaxed and I loved the Dwarf light humour.

Either way I probably won't remember it much, either, in a year heh.

In my opinion it was a perfectly fine fantasy / fairy tale movie. It could have been a train wreck, considering it was a more or less unexpected prequel/sequel, but it definitely works.

Lack of K Stew was a big improvement to be honest and in general the quality of the writing, cinematography and even music as well as the general acting quality was a vast improvement over the first one.

I gave the first one 4/10 as it was just so boring and bland and the story often lost direction and many scenes did not have much of any point towards the story and were just filler.

This movie I would rate 7/10 easily. Perhaps even 8/10 as I would not mind watching it again to be honest.

A lot of people seem to prefer the first film. It's weird how we can so clearly see how much of an improvement Winter's War was, but then you've got the latest comment on this thread saying it's 'putrid garbage' which, sure, is a valid opinion, but maybe they're a disgruntled Kristen Stewart fan. Who knows?

Just watched this, and honestly, I preferred it over Snow White.

It's a different type of story... I'd put it alongside Legend and/or Willow.

Oh, high praise!

I am glad you, like me, preferred it over Snow White. And it really does have some of that same 80s fantasy magic, doesn't it? I'll to see if it has the same re-watchability.
