a one note, melancholic and dreary series

What I don’t understand is why Marvel thought it was a good idea to turn over a property to what clearly is an agenda filled few people that does nothing but taint the underbelly of the MCU.

Jessica Jones is a character in the books that certainly has flaws and issues but to take the basic elements of established Marvel characters and add a pro-homosexual lifestyle choice agenda, a pro-abortion agenda, deviant and emotionless sexual escapades among other dreary attributes is baffling and disappointing to say the least. The showrunner here clearly couldn’t wait to stamp a Marvel property with her warped agenda and it’s sad that Marvel let her do so.

What results is a one note and melancholic series that certainly isn’t bad but it comes across shallow and delivers nothing but a depressing walk through the lives of sick individuals. The struggle isn’t fascinating and the story arcs certainly aren’t complex or even very interesting. What’s delivered is a series that makes you feel dirty as you watch it and is very low in entertainment value. That may be an “artistic” choice but it’s not a good one when the MCU is on such a wonderful roll. This series falls so far below Daredevil that it’s not even debatable. That showrunner certainly kept things gritty but stayed true to Marvel established parameters and offered many notes and true character depth. While it may not be entirely fair to call Jessica Jones a thumbs down failure (some things work and the cast is great) it certainly loses credibility when every episode is used to practically promote a warped agenda or to beat down the viewer in some way.

I accept your surrender.

We do NOT need a season two as bad as this one. I pray thy change course and that they listen to all the true hatred this season generated.

You think the executives actually look at the IMDb boards? Most of the complainers seem to be trolls who seem to hate the show for the mere fact that lead character is a woman.

reply

Most people hate this show because it was a poorly written mess. If Luke Cage is this bad, I'll say the same damn thing.

Trying to shame critics in to backing off by playing the "woman card" is cheap and frankly, something a lame politician would do in this era. No one is buying it.

You are 100% correct.
And what was so frustrating is it was poor executed in areas it didn't have to be.
Is it really that difficult to give her a personality arch?

Very disappointing.

Very.

When the majority of the players involved in Hollywood are preachy elitists that view themselves as being above the masses, they cannot help but condescendingly instruct you on what you should believe, what you should say, and what you should think, and castigate you if you don't. It's basically ideological indoctrination, with those that refuse to regurgitate the dogma branded as heretics and a form of evil.

Think of them as disingenuous televangelists.

And while I haven't bothered to read any of the other responses to your statement, I'd be willing to bet you were castigated by others for failing to bow before the Altar of Conformity that was placed before you in the series.

Which means Hollywood has done it's work well. The sheeple reacted as they were instructed. But part of being an automaton is being unaware you are one.

That could very well be the best post I've read on IMDB in months. Well stated and so very true.

Daredevil S1 - 10/10

Daredevil S2 - 9/10

Luke Cage S1 - 7/10

Jessica Jones S1 - 4/10

Jessica Jones was just awful. Luke Cage a great first half, lost a lot after episode 7.
