SM best to worst?

Here's my ranking. I'm aware it's full of very unpopular opinions:
1) Spider-Man (2002) - For the first Spider-Man movie ever made, it got nearly everything about the character and his world perfect. The swinging, the fight scenes, the costume, the characters... it felt like Spider-Man had just jumped right out of one of his Stan Lee/Steve Ditko-era stories.

2) Amazing Spider-Man - Could have been better and had some weird choices made to the new origin story (Peter gets Uncle Ben killed because he couldn't pay for a fucking YooHoo??), but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Had some great performances and some of the best action of any Spider-Man movie. One more rewrite of the script might have made it #1.

3) Spider-Man 2 - Builds off of the first one, has an amazing villain, and sets the ground for future stories all while just being a fun movie with great action and decent affects. A few cringy/nonsensical moments is all that keeps me from ranking this higher.

4) Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Just a little bit better than Spider-Man 3 because of three things. The music, the fight scenes, and the performances of Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Other than that, this movie is kind of a mess. Harry Goblin is awful.

5) Spider-Man 3 - Sam Raimi did not want to do Venom. Sony said he had to. So, he slapped together this half-hearted, trainwreck of a film. He proved what he was trying to tell Sony from the beginning: he did not *get* the appeal of Venom, nor did he care about the "black suit arc" of the Spider-Man comics. Silver lining though, this movie does have some badass scenes, and the goofy scenes are at least entertaining. I have fun watching this one despite how flawed it is.

6) Spider-Man Homecoming - Ignored and/or omitted important elements of Spider-Man's mythos. Refused to tackle any of the serious drama that has surrounded the character's identity for years. Lacked any impressive fight/swinging scenes. Why is this the "perfect Spider-Man movie" again?

Let’s see...

Spiderman: Homecoming -
a fresh, vibrant, homey, well put together and lighter in tone SM film. Seeing Spidey swinging around, having fun, coping with regular teenage problems along with so much more, feels like the essence of Spidey/Peter. His characterization was perfected in this film imo, with Tom Holland LOOKING and acting the part brilliantly. The Spider signal also finally appears and Peter’s costume design is closer to the classic look from the comics while having an extremely cool update. Low on the drama? The 1st reboot gave us plenty of that. This one, concentrating on a carefree and younger Pete, was a welcome change. The film doesn’t have “epic” written all over it and... it shouldn’t. Even with the inclusion of the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man, this one didn’t feel like any less of a SP film. Some comic experts will disagree with this, but to each their own. Oh, and getting a more realistic depiction of Queens in a Spider-Man film is appreciated.


Spider-Man 2 - not hard to fathom why this is widely considered the best one. I don’t think it puts all the others to shame and it’s not without its silly and “meh” moments. But all in all, it’s great

The Amazing Spider-Man -
It can be called a more serious reworking of Raimi’s first film. Even so, it’s well-made, visually pleasant, faithfully stronger to the character in some aspects (Garfield is nearly perfect), and the tone separates it from Raimi’s trilogy. Like Homecoming, it omits the beloved daily bugle and other Spidey elements but it’s no loss for me

Spider-Man - one of the most important movies in the history of superhero cinema. But that said, it’s a product of its time that is nowhere near perfect or 100% faithful. Still, the movie is fun, contains great moments of dialogue and acting, the score is sublime, and it’s just iconic. In some ways I honestly like it better than SM2 because I find it more memorable and thrilling, yet somehow it ended up in 4th place. Lol

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - watchable but it went the wrong direction

Spider-Man 3 - the action scenes and Spidey being taken over the symbiote is entertaining. Everything else... not so good

Spider-Man 2-5/10 hated the way they did Doc Ock and the Spider-Man No More Story with him losing his powers. Still has some enjoyable action scenes.
Spider-Man 3-1/10 Raimi may not have liked the symbiote story but that's no excuse for doing it so goofy where the suit makes Peter act like more of a geek than he already is. Also Sand Man being Uncle Ben's killer is dumb and it also makes it so that a guy innocent of murder is wrongfully killed by Peter. The stupid MJ/Harry Twist scene is dumb. And don't get me started on the horrible Dance scene. That has no business being in a Spider-Man movie. Every time I'v tried to watch it it just makes me cringe. If I were Tobey Maguire I wouldn't have done the movie at all and I feel sorry for how embarrassed he probably is for having to do those awful scenes.

Spiderman 3 - The biggest issues I have with the movie is that Sandman is Uncle Ben's killer and the climax of the movie is ridiculous with the giant sand monster, it looked awful and was just a dumb idea. I liked Topher Grace as Venom, though, I would have likened to see more of Venom, what we got was executed well enough, except the lack of "we" and face reveal thing.

Spiderman Homecoming - Good rendition of the character, I like the humour and high school setting. Vulture was done really well, I'm surprised to say that since I hated that Spiderman 4 was possibly going to feature Vulture. My biggest issue with the movie was the suit, don't like all the new technology, it feels too much like an Ironman suit. The action sequences were not that impressive to me. That is why this is below Spiderman 3 because the fight scenes in that movie were impactful, you could feel every hit.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 - It has some good moments, I liked what they did with Harry in this. However, the stuff with Electro is bordering on the line of it's so bad it's good. So, even though it has quite a lot of problems, I still managed to find parts of it entertaining, because of some of the ridiculousness in it. The climax of the movie was quite underwhelming and the 2 fight scenes in the movie look like something from a video game.

The Amazing Spiderman - Dull, boring and I hated Andrew Garfield's performance as Spiderman. The lizard could have been a good villain, I could see what they were going for with him, but he was kind of forgettable. The fight scenes in the movie were really underwhelming. The tone of the movie was inconsistant it tried to be dark and serious then it got to to the High School fight scene which could have been interesting, but they turn it into a goofy, cheap, laugh moment. I know this film tells its story better than TASM 2 in terms of structure, but I didn't care about Uncle Ben's death, or Peter's troubles.

1. Spider-Man: Homecoming is far and away my favorite. It's the only Spider-Man film that feels true to the comics. More than any other Marvel film watching this was like watching the comic book come to life. It was funny in exactly the same way the Spider-Man comics are funny, and was able to shift gears effortlessly to powerful and emotional moments. Tom Holland is Peter Parker personified, and Keaton's Vulture is the best villain to ever appear in Spider-Man film. Bonus points for the end credits, which were worth the price of admission alone, and a few charming touches throughout the film that made this likely the closest we'll ever get to a Wes Anderson MCU film. This and Winter Soldier are the two MCU films that transcend the genre and exist as great films in their own right.

2. Spider-Man was revelatory for its time, but it never felt like a Spider-Man movie as much as it did a Hollywood hero film loosely based on the Spider-Man character. At its core it's a teen romance, and gave us an unrecognizable incarnation of Peter Parker. By no stretch a bad film, this is a product of its time. Superhero films were still being made to look like comic books, in the vein of the Superman and Batman movies that came before it. It's fun, but it doesn't hold up well when compared to the Marvel movies of today.

3. Spider-Man 2 is about as good as Spider-Man, but the goofy Peter Parker as Hollywood rom-com protagonist elements were even more pronounced. And, Dr. Octopus got the Hollywood treatment as well, complete with his grand moment of retribution.

6. Spider-Man 3 is bad throughout. It has some moments, notably the Sandman, where it grabs the audience, but for the most part it plays out as an unintentional comedy, even in its moments of attempted comedy. All that said, it's worst quality is that it took one of Spider-man's best villains in Venom and made him a weak, whiny, puny afterthought.

Probably not a great person to judge.....because despite being a massive CBM fan...I havent liked any of the 6 SM films(Odd I know)

*While I'm not a fan of Spider-Man 2, Its clearly the Best overall SM film and I understand why MOST love it

*TASM2 is straight AWFUL, has one of the worst villains ever in Fox's Electro...But Its ranked #2 for me because I can at least rewatch it and somewhat enjoy it for the Action Scenes(I also like Zimmers Score)...TASM2 is by far the Worst over SM movie, but sometimes movies are so bad they are somewhat good...for me that how TASM2 is...

*Captain America Civil War I guess is my favorite SM CBM...although its clear not a SM CBM...I rate CW 9/10 and have it as my 4th favorite CBM of all time

i haven't seen tasm2 yet! it got such wan reviews, i've never felt a pressing need to watch it. it's on netflix right now, so i'll probably get to it sooner rather than later.

i honestly enjoy all of the ones i've seen, even sm3, though it's clearly got some unforgivably poor moments. i like the first garfield film, though i remember thinking he was just a bit too cool and good-looking. i prefer my peter parker in full stumbling, social out-cast mode.

Spiderman 2- Fantastic Doc Ock was a very good villain
Spiderman 1- Brilliant, it helped there wasn't many Marvel superhero movies to compare to.
The amazing Spiderman- Too similar to Spiderman 1 which was brilliant.
Spiderman Homecoming- At times felt like I was watching a Disney show or Nickelodeon. Still a decent movie in most parts
The amazing Spiderman 2- Too much being packed in to one movie. Electro was disappointing, Harry was annoying.
Spiderman 3- Easily the worst one. Venom one of the best villain/ anti hero was poorly used. sandman instead of Hydroman?
