Too Slowwww

Aside from everything else, the pace of this movie enabled me to fold laundry, brush the dog, take a shower, then ask my husband "What happened? What did I miss?" and the answer was nothing.
I'm perplexed by the high rating and the scenery only feels muggy and mosquitoey not to mention snakey.

The action does pick up in the last quarter but the story is only mildly interesting. ( it was the middle I was bored)
Some of the characters remind me too much of real life unfortunately!
Thank goodness I had a coupon code for Redbox.

"Don't be ridiculous. It's in my secret room behind the bookcase.

I found it slow at first then it started to pick up

I've never understood such a complaint. The slow pacing allows something to crescendo more with building characters and building to the climax. The only time quicker pacing is needed more is if it's like a thriller or maybe a comedy, etc. This doesn't need super tight, quick pacing.

Characters reminded you too much of real life? I can assure you, that is a good thing.

Isn't it amazing that any thread that says a film is slow, whatever film, always gets the "well go watch Transformers!" comments...

I felt this moved a little slow at some times, mainly in the first half, but overall I think it handled the pace pretty well, I do think a bit of time could have been cut though, maybe.

"God, when I meet you, I'm gonna be pretty. If it's the last thing I do. I'll be a beautiful angel."

Maybe that was the point?

"You don't have any idea what you're talking about, do you?"

The movie was so awful I actually took the time to get an address for Mr. M, then wrote him a letter asking for my money back. No reply yet, but I occasionally lambast him on social media, still.

Life is a journey not a destination. Fear nothing.

Agreed on the title. It's a good film, but way too slow

I thought it was a little slow in the middle as well, mostly because I couldn't guess what would happen at the end and was getting restless, without any unexpected twists to distract me. I'm glad I stuck it out though. Movie was breathtaking for me, and I know it'll be better on the second watch. It's the kind of movie you can really savour, once you know how it ends, because then you can really focus on the characters and the immersive atmosphere. Maybe you'd like it more the second time round too?

I've got a remote and I'm not afraid to use it.
