U.S. Remake is coming!!!

http://asiapacificarts.usc.edu/article@apa?hollywood_remake_of_the_rai d_in_the_works_17418.aspx

The Indonesian producers are apparently going to be involved, as well as the original fight choreographers but this is Hollywood.

Who do you guys think they will cast as the SWAT team members and then the villain?

I have a feeling that Hollywood might just cast someone like Collin Farrell, Vin Diesel,Channing Tatum, or Tyrese Gibson. Then they would add Cung Le and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as the villains. I would hope they would add some Hong Kong Action stars like Donnie Yen but chances of that are probably slim.

It's a laughable idea.

We ALL know an American remake will stink. We ALL know it won't live up to the original. We ALL know they will cast terrible choices. We ALL know that we will end up crucifying whoever makes the remake.

So why do it anyways?

Because The Raid is being heralded as one of the greatest action movies of our life time and for Hollywood...that is a quick(rather cheap) cash grab scheme.

it's already out, it's called dredd 3d.

Dredd wasn't American, and was in production before The Raid.

Dredd was produced by DNA films (UK), IM Global (US), peach trees (UK)and Reliance Big Entertainment (India).

It has American actors in it, (karl urban is from NZ i know, but the rest is pretty much an american cast).

It was released at least a year after the raid.( Both films was in production at the same time, but the post production on dredd took a year).Who knows what colors the pages were in the dredd script towards the end.

It has a very similar story (fight to the top of the building).

Chill out, and hereĀ“s to hoping that the raid will never get a US remake.

So not American then, like I said.

As far as I know, the only American was Olivia Thirlby. The rest of the cast were British or South African.

The script to Dredd was released on to the net before The Raid went into production, so the colours were consistant.

I am chilled. Just trying to educate.

I don't hate remake but if you had watch the original one, then you will know the whole story. Just like "The Departed".

It's a no-brainer: Segall in the lead role!!

reply

Definitely Collin Farrel and Jeremy Renner:)

I'm American and I love foreign movies with subtitles, but my friend from Bosnia and another one from Algeria can't stand it.
