Is a well written and acted film with a great social statement, but simply cannot match the stylistic mastery and beautiful/brutal story of The Revenant.

shareMichael Keaton had trouble with the Boston accent. Sometimes he had one, sometimes he didn't.
shareIMO the Revenant is little more than one usual spotless action movie like many others, Mad Max was better but I understand for a broader audience Spotlight might touch more people.
Juliet Parrish: You can't win a war if you're extinct!
But Birdman did, and The King's speech did.
I think if they allowed slapping some sense into people we would start getting better Oscar nominations...
Oskars problem with Eli is not her ambiguous gender, but her ambiguous humanity.share
Its all politics.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
Your comment whilst I didn't agree I thought was a fair enough statement until this part
the stylistic mastery and beautiful/brutal story of The Revenant
Completely Agreed
sharethe revenant was *beep*
shareThe Revenant is overrated (and so is the director), its a visual masterpiece but it drags adn is classic revenge story. Spotlight is probably the best movie of the last 3 to 5 years. Amazingly crafted, great acting, with a powerful message (which I didn't see as anti-catholic, but anti-institutional). I think the most important point was the ex-priest who was still catholic, but didn't believe in the organized aspect of religion.
shareIt is not overrated. Spotlight is. And the fact that you are calling The Revenant both a visual masterpiece and an overrated film proves you are an ignorant American.
shareCanadian. The Revenant is visually stunning, but drags and is a cliched revenge film with multiple instances of overacting.
