The plot was overly predictable?
1) From the first few minutes you couldn't tell if there was a story about resistance fight, or winning it all, or just some origin story.
2) After few minutes, we knew that it was about stopping the invasion, but didn't know if it would be like Two Towers - just one battle victory that COULD potentially turn the tide- or if it would be a compete win.
3) We didn't know what role would scientist have. If they come up with some sort of biological stopping agent that would kill all Kayju, or make some new adjustments to robots... or discover a way to seal the breach.
4) When it became apparent that the nuke will play a role in victory, there still was a doubt. They could do it like in Stargate, try to "bury" the breach. Or destroy it as they would.
Besides, you clearly don't understand what plot means. And failed to connect to the film and characters.
It was explained, that the mind drift is something serious, mental connection. So when his brother died, it was not just like he lost a brother. It was like him literally dying. He was still connected to him, so all the fear, anxiety of Yancy's death, he felt like he was the one dying. That is some pretty serious shit. Dunno who I would react and I generally don't get scared a lot.
When the girl was introduced, everybody knew she would become important character in the plot, possibly romantic partner. But this is not pretty woman, characters, their interactions and motivations are not THE PLOT. This is something you have failed to understand.
