Biggest cringe moment?

Mine was the heads of state videolink snap vote wIth the Russian obviously voting for first strike against the orb.
They did soften it with the US vote after but it was too late by then i'd already cringed my pants.

There were definitely other contenders but cant remember them now

I Was a big fan of the 96 movie, saw it when was 16 and still think it's a great popcorn fest type film, nothing serious, some decent effects and so forth

This one though was a big letdown

The acting from most of the cast was awful.
The presidents daughter, the idiot who was obsessed with paperwork, the idiot pilots who went along with hemsworth's character, they were all awkward and equally pointless.
I always hate it when these new movies introduce supposedly comical side kicks, as they usually annoy rather than entertain, a bit like the stupid gold toothed, ghetto robots in Transformers and the stupidly annoying, over the top scientists in Pacific Rim

There were just so many stupid flaws in this film, it just boggles my mind, there wasn't even the destruction on a grand scale like old film, no tension and why the alien queen would spend her time chasing a school bus, is just unreal.

Humans now have the ability to mobilize and set up portable force fields that cover a huge area, which can not only resist being rammed by a spaceship, but also contain the explosion from a few "cold fusion bombs", yet they didn't think of putting those same force fields on the moon? or on the orbital defence satellites?
Spend half a trillion? dollars on a big ass space weapon, but oh hell, we forgot to add shields!
Spend trillions on orbital defence platforms, but again, forgot about the shields!

The queen has the ability to control every alien fighter, yet she's being constantly attacked by hybrid fighter jets and 2 commandeered fighters, but oh well, no need to call in the other fighters for protection just yet, i have a school bus to smash!
Oh *beep* my shield has finally run out of power, but let's just stand there letting them shoot at my oversized plasma rifle and still not call in reinforcements.

Just goes on and on.

For me, the stand out cringe was the fighters approaching the 3000 mile wide ship..
"I've got visual".. from like 1 mile away.

For me it was the moment in between the opening title and the closing credits. There was some dialogue between all the characters in the entire script and it was all completely cringe-worthy.

All good examples posted here. I'll add the drone ships flying around the queen to protect her flew in a torus (donut shape) formation, leaving her completely exposed from above. Space is three dimensional, dummies. You'd think interstellar, conquering aliens would know that.

Two writers sit in a dark hole...

How can we get the audience to feel something for the characters?
Hmmm... Parents?
Ok: My hero Dad is dead and I'll miraculously get there in time to see my heroic mother die horrifically.
We're orphans.
I'm the foxy foreign chick and I'll watch my moonbase leader Dad get blown to smithereens.
My Dad's dead... thank F' for that. He's miraculously safe on a boat???
My Dad was the president and I don't want him to die fighting that big alien queen thing... Oh... he's dead.
We're in our car and we lost our parents...
That's my son!

You don't think we're overdoing it with the schmultz?
Nah, not enough yet.
My best friends dead?
Nah, still not enough.
What hackneyed cliche can we possibly put in to really get the danger to 11?
Kids in a school bus?
Oh, Yeah...
