Worst movie ever?

A stupid guy who tries to bed every woman whom he encounters. Who is also a greedy liar, ready to do anything to get money. In the end he's not changed - tries to bed the third sister (who of course is very happy about that). And he's supposedly the hero whom the watchers (i.e. mostly children) are supposed to praise and learn from? What is the message that this movie is sending? For boys: do whatever you want, cheat etc., you're a hero if you believe in it and everyone will love you. For girls: wait patiently for your hero, and even if he's a cheater (in all meanings of this word) love him nevertheless because he's a great guy.

Can you imagine a movie where a man (let's call him Theodorus) just after one day of knowing a woman cries about a broken heart, goes mad and completely destroys his own life?

I understand that this is a century old story, but please Disney, let it remain in it's grave of history, the only place where it belongs.

I hope you're not implying with this that L.Frank Baum's wonderful creation OZ, of which he wrote 14 books, should be forgotten? Those books (and the books written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, and John R Neill which follow Baum's volumes) are wonderful unpretentious children's fare. To say they should "remain in it's grave of history, the only place where it belongs.", is hideous. If you did not mean to imply this, then good, but it sure reads that way.

I know you started this thread long ago, but I recently re-watched "Oz: the Great.." and though I agree with you that it was a travesty of a film, it was also a travesty as far as Baum's original vision was concerned. I sincerely hope that the land of Oz never finds it's "grave of history", it's America's first real classic children's series and it holds up today.

... L.Frank Baum's wonderful creation OZ, ...
I thought this prequel worked better than I'd expected. I'm sure the old guy would have given it the thumbs up.🐭

I'm way late here, but I just wanted to say I'm not going to judge you for liking the movie (there are plenty of trolls on IMDB who probably would) and as long as you're an OZ fan first you're OK in my BOOK. Adaptations are always a gamble for the viewer who love's the source material, and I certainly don't want film makers to stop trying with Baum. Cheers.
