Is this the most boring superhero movie or what?

I mean the most boring, not the worst.

When I watch *beep* like Superman IV and Batman & Robin, they are so bad I have a good time watching anyway by simply pointing out the laughable points.

But The Wolverine, it nearly got me to sleep halfway. That never ever happens to a superhero movie. Not Watchmen, not Punisher, not even Super.

I just can't get excited seeing this. Wolverine fights some samurais or ninjas, that's supposed to be awesome! But instead the action scenes are so mediocre and few there's not a single memorable fighting scene.

And there's the so-called romance. Wolverine knew these people for like 5 seconds and suddenly they're his responsibilities? None of these characters are properly introduced and I'm supposed to care about what happens to them?

This awkward relationship which takes half of screen time has no beginning nor end, it's like a joke, a revenge against the *beep* old man and her father. She's supposed to compensate for the loss of Jean?

Yes. I have a hard time with the Thor franchise, but this one was pretty bad. I realized at the end it was just meant to add the tease of an Xavier/ Magneto re-match. I hope there is less chit chat and more action. By the way, with all that slicing and dicing - no dis- memberments? Amazing. And, maybe my tv isn't so great, but, I didn't see any blade protrusions when Wolverine dispatched someone in the throat.
Reminds me of the A-team tv series.

You know what it reminded me of? Every PG-13 movie ever. I know it sucks, but it is not news that the ratings systems are such that things have to be toned down in order to obtain a certain rating. And it's not so easy to just say they should make it R rated because R rated movies make less money, so less money is invested in them. As a result, we live in a world where we can either have small budget R rated action movies that can give us "realistic" blood and cutting scenes or medium to large budget action movies that have to cut down on some of those things but can give us more elaborate effects. Also, some concepts just don't work as R rated movies no matter the budget and so R rated outings will never be in their cards (studios are particularly nervous about R rated superhero films and Wolverine, specifically, has an established audience that skews young).

It was better than Origins but still wasn't very good. Butchering Silver Samurai was unnecessary and I never have cared for stories where heroes lose their powers. It seems like in this movie there's a better one trying to get out.

So so boring. Also, where the he11 are the mutants?? I can count them all on one hand. Why do people think this was worse than origins wolverine? I actually liked that film. It was cheesy at the end, but the stuff with Stryker was pretty good and Ryan Reynolds was great before he turned into Deadpool. Plus, Liev Schrieber. Is always awesome.

I didn't read everything you wrote but HELL NO !!

This is NOT as boring as The Punisher with "boring" Thomas Jane.

The Punisher withe Dolph will kick his A## with 1 hand tied behind his back.

I disagree. Perhaps the action in this film weren't state of the art, but they were refreshingly traditional and old-fashion in a good way. To me, they were exciting and tense. The stakes had been raised because Logan cannot properly heal himself, and thus was vulnerable. Also, the film was set in Japan, what did you expect the action to be like?

Also, a comic book film is not all about the fun and action, it's also about the character arcs and relationships. This film is a bit more serious-minded than some of the other superhero films. It's refreshing to see Logan's haunted past, vulnerable self, his friendships, and romance. I like this film because it tours in a new direction outside of the X-men team, and explores the psyche and the personal and past life of Logan, instead of staying with the familiar X-men settings and fights; and the Japanese characters are introduced and developed well (perhaps with the exception of the Yukio character).

Jztzt How is it refreshing? this is brooding dark wolverine is just a rehash of everything that they have done with this character in every other film he has been in.

If God created Man in his image, Man has certainly returned the favor.

reply

Because instead of him just being "brooding dark", we actually get to see WHY, and we actually witness him dealing with it, learning from it, and eventually, moving on with his life, though "Days of Future Past" somewhat undid all of that, though we will see what happens with the next Wolverine film.

Any film where Wolverine can attack hordes of people and hardly of drop of blood can be seen is an insult to the character. Make of that what you will.

You clearly never watched the extended cut.

I agree that tthis movie was boring and even the action scenes are so stupid and unoriginal that they fail to pick up this lackluster character piece. I get it he is always brooding and has a long past full of heartbreak. Lets move on and see something fun happen. In the comics logan has a much heartier grittier persona not this forlorn sad-eyed hippie that we get. The pain is there but the thing we love about him is that he heals his wounds and hides his sorrows close to the surface but not right on the surface. This felt more like a borne movie with out the intrigue and really that scene on the roof on the train was ambitious but just dumb in its execution. I gave it a generous 4. I would say this is better than wolverine origins but not as entertaining.

No. X-Men Origins Wolverine, The Green Lantern, Daredevil and The Green Hornet are the most boring superhero films on more or less same level.
