Parents bringing their kids

When I went to see this movie, all of a sudden a couple comes in with a kid who couldn't have been more than eight years old! I am really curious as to what justifies parents bringing their eight year old to an R- rated movie, filled with violence like this one was...

I saw Hostel 2 in theaters and some parents brought their children not much older than 7 in. Violence, sex, a penis being chopped off........I guess it was what they thought would be good old fashion family fun. Not something I would take my kids to.

Thanks for spoiling Hostel 2 for my five year old daughter!!! I'll have to dig out the original Evil Dead for her now.

this movie is appropriate for children.
I saw Speed many times when I was about 8, myself. that movie is R as well. and when I was 11/12, my favorite movie was The Matrix. and I also had Hellraiser 3 on VHS when I was 10, but grew out of that by the time I was 16.

It continually amazes me what parents willingly expose their kids to.

And just because a bunch of replies go along the lines of "well, when I was ten, or eight or six, I was exposed to... or played such and such video game...or went and saw 'Saw' or 'Bride of Chucky'," or some other splatter movie, does not justify bringing in young grade school kids into a theater to see a film like this.

You become what you fill your mind with.

I viewed the TV edited version of this thing, and all I can say is, that version was bad enough that I would not allow a sub-teener to watch it. I can imagine how bad the unedited version was.

Eh. We watched the edited-for-TV version on our own, and given that it's clearly fantasy and he can tell the difference, we let our 9 y.o. watch it with us later. I assume they dialed the gore back from the R release and it's a totally different experience at home in the afternoon than in a dark theater at night. But every kid is different.
