At some point someone decided that no movie can succeed without a romantic angle. And all songs must be about love.
It is now just taken as gospel. Personally, I feel that movies would do better exploring other types of love including parent/child - a little here - and sibling love etc.
But kudo's here, I can't even think of another movie in recent memory without a romantic angle.

I think it's sad how almost everyone who makes movies throws in some obligatory love angle, and it usually winds up feeling very forced.

More than I thought when I first started typing.
Just curious how you think there was no romantic angle in Inception? One of the main points of the movie was HOW very much in love with eachother Leonardo DiCaprio and Marion Cotillard were, not to mention some serious romantic tension between Joseph Gordon-Lovett and Ellen Page.
Anyways, I entirely agree with the OP. I thought this movie was absolutely fantastic, and it was nice that a romantic story line wasn't forced on the audience as it wasn't needed in the least.
I didn't consider it a romantic angle because she was dead but the more I think about it I guess you have to make it a romantic angle.

Good list but Up definitely had a romantic story (made me cry my eyes out) even though I agree that it was not the majority of the story.
