Why are all US sports so boring?

The USA has given the world many great things in the fields of Technology,Fashion, Music,Film etc etc. However when it comes to Sports the US is a disaster.Basically, very few outside the US have any interest at all in a single sport that the Americans invented.Baseball- I believe only the Cubans and Japanese play or have any interest in it.American Football-popular nowhere outside the USA.Basketball-yes its popular in quite a few countries but mainly countries which are bad at soccer (Eastern Europe,China etc.In major European sporting countries like Germany, France, the UK its dead). Volleyball- a niche sport at best. The famous (in the USA)athletes who play these sports could walk naked down any street around the world and not get a second glance.

I don't doubt that Q-Trips, the USA is a Sporting Superpower, my point is that the indigenous US sports just have virtually no appeal abroad.US sportsmen who play Baseball,Basketball and American Football are as good as anything the rest of the World has to offer, its just that nobody outside the US has any interest in those games.

"the indigenous US sports just have virtually no appeal abroad"

Maybe for baseball. For some odd reason, cricket has more global appeal than baseball. However, I doubt that's true for every other American sports. There are so many international players just begging to play in the NBA and NFL.

I donĀ“t know why you are dragging basketball into this, basketball is maybe not as huge as it was when Michael Jordan was playing (Jordan is just as famous as any soccer player past or present) but the NBA stars are quite well known all over the world.

Some countries are followers, unimaginative, and lacking in creativity, and then you have the USA which is a leader, creative, imaginative, and is NOT a follower. The finesse of baseball, football, and basketball reflects a game of great athleticism but also of great theory. Soccer doesn't hold a candle to any of those when it comes to game planning, strategy, the mind game involved in baseball, football, and even basketball. Each pitch of the baseball to each batter, the consideration of how many outs, who is on base, etc., it is such a mind game. Football is such a game of strategy and not just physicality. I'll stick with the USA sports, and I couldn't care less what you nor anyone else thinks about our sports. Our sports are played for the fans, not to impress the nonbeliever. FYI, before Beckham, Pele' was soccer's most well known fan. lol

And is not dead in Germany, France...and especially not Italy. Argentina, Brazil and Spain also really enjoy basketball as well. Actually, every nation that is good at soccer tends to really like basketball (excepting the netherlands....as I don't see England as good, they don't factor)

Volleyball isn't big in the US.

Ice Hockey is decent here, also well liked in Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Russia, Canada, Slovakia (few other colder nations enjoy it as well)

American Football is big in Canada and the US.

Baseball is big in Cuba, Venezuela, Japan, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico....and also has a following in South Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Columbia.

You don't really have a very developed opinion on this....is basically what I'm saying. I'm also not saying this in a hostile way either, you literally just didn't seem to think this topic through....not macro or micro. Basketball is the second most popular sport on the planet. You seem to be saying the only sport on the planet that anyone likes is soccer.

God help me, there is nothing more boring than soccer...watching a bunch of jagoffs kicking a ball back and forth. Every game is 1-0...unless it's a tie. For chrissakes, I can't keep my eyes open.

i think an interesting difference is how complex and unique american sports are compared to international sports like soccer. there are so many rules and strategies to baseball, football, and basketball.

it's kind of like chess and checkers. checkers is easy to pick up and a lot of fun, but chess is a deeply rich and satisfying game even though there's quite a learning curve.

that's not to say soccer is a "simple" game, but you get the point. i imagine if i were to learn a game like cricket, which seems pretty complex, i'd appreciate it greatly.

I was on the soccer team 3 years in HS. Playing soccer is an absolute blast, more than baseball, football, could hope to touch. But actually watching the game is one of the most mind numbingly boring and tedious experiences of my life.

US NFL football is one of the most exciting sports in the world. It's head and shoulders above soccer.

And college football is head and shoulders above the NFL. College makes the NFL look boring in comparison.

That's probably because soccer coaches treat their "athletes" like children at daycare. While sitting around and licking a Popsicle you must have seen all the hard work and effort coaches from real sports make their athletes go through to prepare during practice.
