It's a pathetic flop.No sequel.

There's no chance in hell this will make 412.000.000 to break even.
Even with HBO max views/subs.The ad campaign for this was massive, add another 50-100Μ for the ads,it actually needs approximately 600M to break even.
So yeah it's a terrible pathetic flop.
Sequels usually make less money 💵 than the original.Dune 2021 flopped hard because it's a vague arrogant borefest. I don't think a sequel will ever happen, unless they want their money drained down the toilet💵💦 🚽 for the shake of Villeneuve's artsy fartsy vanity🤡.
I hope he goes away after this or at least he stays away from iconic sci fi movie projects.Too many flops,Blade Runner 2049 and now this, the dude is incapable of directing a comprehensible and intriguing sci fi epic/blockbuster that is actually fun to watch.

According to Warner Bros., the box office is irrelevant when deciding on a sequel.

But probably the sequel will have reduced budget if the first installment didn't break even.

reply

600M to beak even, huh?

There's an economist for ya

reply

The theaters need money too you twat ,any movie must make 3 times it's budget to make some profit, Dune 2021 needs at least 660M and I don't take into account the massive ad campaign

reply

Studio gets 52% of domestic gross and around 44% of international gross. IDK where you get that 3X from because it's not true. There are also profits from HBO, and other means of making money other than box office. Considering these other sources of profit, Dune has been estimated to break even at around 300M.

This is a great and successful movie that is on track to be in the top ten grossing movies of 2021. A sequel is happening. You hating on it won't make a difference.

Edit: WB just announced a sequel. It will hit theaters on October 20, 2023.

LOL: OP = idiot. Impotent rageposting is always amusing; especially when it displays such a breathtaking amount of confusion about Everything.

Lots of incorrect information in this post.

Yeah about that.....

Also I disagree with you 100% on your take on Denis Villenueve. He is one of the best directors working today. Blade Runner 2049 is fantastic and so is this film. Not every film has to necessarily be so called "fun". Yes we have many genuine great fun films but there are directors who rather make films to treat audiences as if they were intelligent as well.

Well deserved sequel.

reply

Absolutely. Easily my most anticipated movie of 2023.

reply

In what universe? I could not care less about this project.

I can watch it for free, but I will not waste my time.

reply

Well that's your opinion. Part One was such masterfully well crafted film. Just because it's not some fast paced CGI bloated nonsense of a film doesn't mean it isn't watchable.

reply

It is already now okayed for the sequel in 2023. And it will be written so that it will lead into the Messiah movie in 2025.

The sequel has already been greenlit by the studio, with release set for 2023.

reply

Let's hope it happens.

reply

Sequel. It's already been greenlit. Villeneuve is a Hollywood darling, and can get most of what he wants done, done.

Αnother mega flop. It will bankrupt Warner bros ...AT&T won't tolerate another mega FLOP
