Two down
what do y'all think?
shareBig battle is next week!
Can't wait
The Arya sex scene was pretty gross...I didn't need that:/
Otherwise an
excellent episode👍
There have been a lot of worse scenes than that during this series. Showing the healing scars was a nice reminder of the trials Arya suffered.
shareNope, Incorrect
Nobody needed to see Arya in bed with a guy...talk about gross!
She's an innocent, pre-meditated mass-murderer!
What makes this scene gross? I didn't find it gross at all. I enjoyed it. Seemed appropriate for the setting, the story, what is about to take place. I mean, she might die. He might die. So they fucked. Big deal.

I'm not sure how anything I said gives you the right to call me a pig. Also, you didn't answer my question. I asked a valid question. I want to know why its gross that Arya had sex.

I hope you have a terribly soggy day in the rain and your socks get all soaked and it's really unpleasant for you!
shareI rarely sleep
Pleasant dreams😀
You are that tough Charlie boy!
You don't want to meet me ever again big boy...no quit in me

The Knight King can raise the dead, so why do they think the crypt is a safe place? I also think Aarya is going to either take down the Knight king or his dragon.
shareIf she could hit the dragon in the eye with that javelin and take it down, that would go a long way toward reducing the odds against them!
Assuming the white walkers have no sixth sense that lets them feel the presence of humans the crypt might be safe - as long as the entrance was camouflaged and effectively invisible if you don't know it's there. Maybe one of those twist the little statue 90 degrees to the right and push forward, then hidden door opens sort of arrangements. I can't recall seeing anyone go in or out of the place. Did they show it in the early seasons, anyone remember?
Bran said the Night King can sense him, so I'm not sure the purpose of the whole "locked in a crypt" idea is to keep them hidden so much as stave off access until they're rescued.
I'm assuming the plot device of Yara reinforcing the Iron Islands to provide a place of refuge where the White Walkers can't go is not just a red herring, that it implies Dany's forces will be pushed back on their heels where she will have to seek refuge there.
So along that thread, I do expect some sort of showdown as the Army of the Dead bears down on Winterfell and tries to break into the crypt.
Bran won't be in the crypt. The plan is for him to wait in his usual spot outside by the tree, to lure the Night King there so they have a shot at taking him out. Without Bran inside there'd be no reason to think the Night King would be aware of the crypt. Unless he's able to sense the people in it. Between the giants and the ice dragon he could get in there - it's a question of whether he knows there's anything to get into.
shareTrue, I had forgotten about that part of the plan.
shareHmmmm that's interesting. I hadn't thought of Arya being the one to do it...and I've been blind not to see it. She had Gendry make that special weapon. Yes...it must be to use it on the Night King or the dragon. Hope she's successful with that!
shareBran knows they won't go to the crypts if he's sitting out in the God's wood. He's a high value target and apparently as long as Bran is alive, the dead army will only fight the ones who stand between him and the Night King.
shareJon Snow really does know nothing. Tell Danaerys the WORST possible news RIGHT before Battle. She will try to incinerate him using Drogon. Except that won't work, because Jon is a dragon and fire cannot kill a dragon.
Yeah telling Danaerys was wrong. Now instead of having her mind on the battle she will be thinking, "OH NO! I HAD SEX WITH MY NEPHEW!"
shareAgreed that was poorly timed. Couldn't he wait until after the battle?
shareSeeing as they are both Targaryens, the incest is a non-issue. It's a Targaryen tradition. She was upset that Jon was the true heir to the Iron Throne, negating her claim. She couldn't care less about him being her nephew.
shareWe don't know if she cares about Jon being her nephew or not. She obviously cares about a potential conflicting heir a lot more though, since that was the first thing that crossed her mind.
shareIf it's a long-standing tradition in her family and she was even supposed to marry her own brother if their father had not died, I doubt it would matter to her at all.
shareI agree. I'm not sure why a lot of people seem to think aunt-nephew incest will pose as an insurmountable obstacle for them.
From the books the incest taboo in Westeros is defined as brother-sister and parent-child. First cousin marriage is widely practiced and there were no strict social taboos between aunt-nephew or uncle-niece.
But even Westerosi accepted that different rules applied to their Targ rulers of the past. I think it's modern viewers unable to process how common this practice was throughout recorded history, especially among ruling clans.
No, it was pretty common in the real world at one time. There was even brother-sister marriage. They didn't know about genetics, they didn't understand why damaged children were accumulating in their families, they thought they were keeping the royal bloodline "pure" by not mixing it with inferior blood.
The show has never actually gone into what the consensus opinion in Westeros is regarding incest - except that brother and sister is definitely taboo. We also don't know how views in the North might differ from those in places like Dorne or King's Landing.
Yeah if it's an issue at all it'll come from him since he was raised in Westeros. There's no reason for her to find it an obstacle. In the books it was strongly suggested if not described her brother had sex with her growing up and if my memory is right it was pretty well implied by Viserys in the first season of this show too.
shareBetter paced than the first one. The remaining episodes are 90 minutes or longer, basically four feature length films back to back. We know they're going to lose Winterfell. There's still too much time left to defeat the Night King so soon. They'll lose the battle but not everyone will die, the survivors will retreat and regroup. I guess the question is, how secure is the crypt? Do the white walkers have the ability to sense those people down there? Or would a well hidden entrance keep them from being found? If they are discovered the location becomes rather ironic.
I wonder what Arya wanted that special weapon for? You don't suppose she could steal a face from one of the white walkers or a wight and use that to infiltrate the Night King's army, do you?
I don't think they're going to lose Winterfell.
The real point of the show is the iron throne. I think about two episodes dealing with the White Walkers, then you need some time to take on Cersi in King's Landing.
I'm thinking something crazy is going to happen, like with Arya taking a face of the dead to kill the Night King with that spear.
If Winterfell gets taken, there is not a lot of time to battle for the throne.
We'll see. Really looking forward to it.
Loved these first two episodes. All the reunions and "calm before the storm" moments are great, and give the characters a chance to be together before all hell breaks loose I'm guessing next week.
It's so bad! I'm enjoying it anyway, but if it were the beginning of the series, I'd just quit. They've had absolutely no plot for two episodes now. Just relying on characters (cardboard cutouts of the characters we loved from before) and scenery. And the dialogue is not good either. I thought there was one good line in the whole episode, and that was Bran repeating Jaime's line from the first episode.
shareAgreed - it seems like the selling point of first episode was jon snow being told that he was related to the dragon lady and the second episode - him telling the dragon lady that they are related. Meanwhile, I really don't give a shit if they are related or not - that shit doesn't make me want to watch the next episode - were these seriously supposed to be the cliff hangers?
Anyways, the truth is, it's obvious that these 2 episodes are filler material - and supposedly action should commence next week, but hmm.... I dunno if i feel any particular excitement at this point - the writing in the first 2 episode was pretty lackluster.
Another solid episode. 1st one set the table, had some good reunions. 2nd one allowed us to spend time with all our favorite characters one last time before eventually, a lot of them will most likely end up dead. Great pace so far. Fantastic build up to the dreadful battle with the Knight King. I have a feeling episode 3 will be bat shit insane. This will be the longest week of my life waiting for the next episode.
