I was unimpressed with the first one. This one was considerably more satisfying. The interactions felt a little more natural and less forced. It did a good job setting the mood pre-battle. It also did a pretty good job removing some of the certainty who would and would not survive the final battle.
This is probably one of the better written episodes since Martin stopped being directly involved.
Still a lot of cliches in the general story lines, but I wouldn't expect much else for a final season.
