shareI am from India and i loved the movie. Corruption is a problem in our country too n i could thus relate to the concept of the movie. I thought Wagner Moura was simply fantastic and he portrayed realistic aggresion w/o being over the top. Fernanda Machado is beautiful. Man whats with the women of your country! Liked the way her character was written in the sense that the writer did not hesitate to push her aside in the bigger scheme of things, that the movie is about.
9/10 for me though i voted a 10 to cancel out the troll votes.
I'm German and I loved this movie. I have no problems with sub-titles either.
And these Brazilian guys are quite easy on the eyes. You would never see guys act like that in American films.
Jessica Rabbit
"I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way."
I'm finnish and I've seen it and most of people I know have seen it too.
I'm waiting for the second one to hit DVD/Bluray.
What clichés? Thats a word the wannabe critics use when they want to whinge.share

I'm Canadian and I watched it with the subtitles. Just sat down one afternoon and decided to watch after hearing it was good.

I am from Pakistan...
I have seen many drug and police, BOPE or elite squad DEA related movies but this movie rocks. Not only fast paced action also shows the reality filled with emotions and story telling with great directing is awesome. It is difficult for me to pick the better from city of god and elite squad ... so i give both of them 9/10...
Looking forward to watch elite squad 2 which has got greater rating...
Im from Canada and holy bejeezus this film rocked my world. Being North American with a steady diet of Hollywood, it made your typical Hollywood action flicks seem so Nickolodeon.
I mean SWAT, Training Day, etc really had nothing on this.
I'm from Egypt and I just watched this movie. I thought it was a very realistic depiction of societal relationships in Rio but will have to ask my Brazilian friends for confirmation. Egyptians know police brutality all too well, one of the main reasons we had a revolution very recently.
One aspect that bothered me about the film is all the narration, it forced me to focus on the subtitles throughout most of the movie while I would have liked to "watch" more attentively.
Overall, I thought it was a very well-made movie and interesting to watch...did he ever get back to his wife??
Jan 25, 2011 the day it all started. Walk like an Egyptian or just protest like one!
from denmark and i *beep* loved this film.

I'm from Panama and I think this is the 2nd best Brazilian film I've ever seen. I totally understand the corruption of the police, but the degree to which the gangs control the favelas is just insane!

I am from the U.S. and it is one of my top 20 foreign language films, and it is second to City of God for Brazilian movies.
