Avengers is why they invented the term INSTANT CLASSIC

It's so good to see Marvel's The Avengers and the term INSTANT CLASSIC is forever linked when describing this amazing movie.

I don't remember the last film that instantly registered this much this fast and stayed this talked about even over a year later. The other top box office champs did the slow burn and grew on people. It's well noted that Avatar was simply a gimmick FX film that everyone had to see but most agree it's a bad film and was terribly written.

Reading these boards over the past year, I see a lot of comparisons to Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark and that seems to be right on the mark looking back. Most everyone loves Avengers no matter age or gender. That's also a very tough thing to pull off considering the genre and subject matter.

Admit it everyone, Avengers is an outstanding film on every level and truly worthy to be called an instant classic.

He might have went overboard. But I would hardly call it garbage. This is a simple popcorn film made to entertain. On that level it works. It's not suppose to be the next Citizen Kane. Jesus. If this boring garbage why the hell did you give it a 6.

Why would you do that jack? That's petty.

Yup. It don't make them bad just because they ain't as good as TDK.

I wonder what they'll call the combo of this film with Age of Ultron? Can movie fans invent new terms?

Total revenue for Disney itself climbed 8% to $12.4 billion from last year's level. A material part of the growth came from the company's decision back in 2009 to purchase Marvel Entertainment. The acquisition brought an array of comic book superheroes which are proving to be highly successful in the summer movies arena. Releases like Captain America, Maleficent, Frozen and the epic Guardians of the Galaxy continue to contribute their share of success.

I just love The Avengers. I thought it was smart and the impressive cast really delivered! This movie works on so many levels and makes you draw on just about all of your emotions. I don’t remember when I enjoyed a movie this much! Such cool fantasy but what makes it extra special is following this film after all the other solo efforts from each character. I enjoyed the others films quite a bit but they all delivered something different. Seeing them blend together in Avengers and the sparks that resulted was the extra special treat. Example: They blended the grounded futurist (Tony Stark) with the Norse thunder god and his angry brother in a perfect way. Same could be said for every other character. It all works. In fact, it doesn’t just fit, it’s an exciting symphony and that dichotomy and difference in characters and how they interact are what makes it truly great. It’s why this movie stands so tall above any other franchise at the moment. Things like Transformers, GI Joe and even Star Trek all operate with monotone restrictions. Avengers covers all angles and delivers depth of character with its fun and amazing action sequences.

That was a 10/10 review right there and sums up best why Avengers should indeed be classified as an instant classic.

reply

You certainly can say that again!

I accept your surrender.

When does a film go from instant classic to just plain classic?

reply

It's always going to be both.

It was an "instant classic" because it was recognized as a classic as soon as it was released.

Because, as Whedon said, he made an old-fashioned adventure film, it should age well, stylistically.

OBSCENE GESTURE IMMINENT!

Avengers is right there with the Steam Engine, Transistors and Harnessed Electricity as the greatest inventions of all-time.

reply

Joss Whedon has taken what was good and made it great.

reply

Did it need to be said or what?

I think Joss Whedon directed the after credits scene in Winter Soldier.

Poppa Boner loved this film.

The amazing Al!

Oh baby.

reply

Well? When does a film go from instant classic to just plain classic?

Has anyone decided yet?

reply

It is one thing to ignore George Santayana’s famous dictum that those who have not learned from history are doomed to repeat it. It’s entirely another to arrogantly presume the only reason your worldview hasn’t worked yet is because no one as smart as you has tried it. Marvel knows what they are doing.

reply

You know it big guy!

reply

Undoubtedly, this movie is as great as most are saying. What struck me is how unique, deep yet fun the entire experience turned out. The bonds these kindred spirits forge is truly special and watching it in its inception is a true treat. I’m just glad Marvel placed these characters together and invited me to join the family.

Actually, the term INSTANT CRAP is forever linked with The Avengers.

It's well noted that Avatar was simply a gimmick FX film that everyone had to see but most agree it's a bad film and was terribly written.

You pretty much described The Avengers -- a gimmick CGI film that's bad and terribly written.

Most everyone loves Avengers no matter age or gender.

WRONG!!! A lot, and I mean A LOT of people didn't like The Avengers movie. More than 35,000 people gave it a 5 or lower. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises are all ranked higher than The Avengers.

Avengers is an outstanding film on every level and truly worthy to be called an instant classic.

WRONG!!! The Avengers is a crappy film and an instant crap.

Nolan's Dark (as) Knight movies are only highly rated because they came out during a recession and a lot of people were cynical. The "Avengers" outgrossing Nolan's films one by one proves that movies that are actually entertaining and not bloated, pretentious, preachy, pitch black bull$#!+ can still be hits.

Don't worry, The sun still sets and Youtube is open 24 hours a day for you to find Mozart's "Lacrymosa" or Chopin's Funeral march.
