How original..

.. mimicking what Marvel did with the Spider-Men.

reply

I think it was made around the same time as Spiderman but because the lead actor is a sexual deviant things had to be delayed for years.

reply

Oh yeah. I remember that. You may very well be right. If that's the case.. a strange case of synchronicity then (or spying)?

reply

It actually happens a lot, remember the prestige and the illusionist? No movie about period magicians before or since but those both got made the same year.

reply

Yes you're right. And that reminds me, in the 90s, "Dante's Peak" and "Volcano" came out almost simultaneously too.

"End of Days" and "Stigmata" were not exactly the same but similar and also came out the same year or so (and with Gabriel Byrne as a good priest in one and as evil incarnate in the other).

reply

Deep Impact and Armageddon is another good example.

reply

True. 👍

reply

Armageddon and Deep Impact were months apart....

reply

They're both using the same lame gimmick. Let's reuse the old b/c we can't think of anything new and interesting. The concept leaves it all open for fan service in place of story.

reply

Did ChatGPT write of script?

reply

Could be! I also heavily suspect that many of the identically structured recent movie posters were designed by DALL·E 2.

reply

You'd be surprised how a lot of the superheroes have similar origins or traits between the MCU and DCU but with different names and faces.

reply

I remember how I used to think that Doctor Faith and Doctor Strange were weirdly similar. But you're surely right as just on top of my head I got Hawkeye and Green Arrow. Catwoman and Black Cat. Thanos and Darkseid.

reply

I read somewhere that The Flash(point) was in production way before MCU had the idea to do SM No Way Home, like the way apparently Cap America 3 decided to do Civil War (Cap v Iron Man) after they found out DC was doing BvS (some even believe Infinty War/Endgame were decided after Marvel learned of DCs plans to do JL Parts 1/2 and was going to involve time travel etc)

reply

That's interesting. So it's really like they've been engaged in a race for who was going to engage those story arcs to the big screen first.

reply

DC Comics is all about the multiverse and alternate versions on infinite Earths. In fact, many of their crises involve these infinite Earths. This is nothing new nor anything they stole or copied.

reply

I've bought some comics when I was younger and I remember seeing a multitude of Supermen. I don't know if they had anything to do with the infinite Earths though.

Personally, I only remember Azrael being an alternate Batman after Bane destroyed Bruce Wayne's back. Were there other Batmen out there ?

reply

Yeah, there's Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father, who is the Batman on Earth 2. Here's the wikipedia page on the DC Multiverse. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse_(DC_Comics)

There's alternate versions of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. on most of them.
