To Americans who watched this

I am a huge football fan and am a season ticket holder to West Ham United FC, and i really liked this film in the fact that the main football team was West Ham. Obviously i didnt really like that fact that the firm was called the GSE and not the ICF which is correct.

What i want to know is....To any Americans who watched this film, did it help you to like football if you didnt already? and if so what are you English teams that you support or follow? Most people from other countries follow either, Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, but does anybody follow a team like West Ham in America?

Yeah, man. I love soccer (football). My family is German, so I grew up following Bundesliga (Bayern Munchen). I also follow some EPL - love it!

I am from Pittsburgh PA and am a Steeler fan....the best (american) football team in history. That being said i was on my honeymoon in 2009 and got sh*tfaced with a brit who was from Tottenham and we made eachother official fans of eachother's teams. So although I know nothing about the football over the pond i do know I am a Tottenham Hotspur fan for life, and that there is a tottenham fan somewhere who loves the steelers. Thank god for beer.

Naw man. Respectfully (I usually troll) I will add to this thread by saying that as an American, this film did not make me like soccer (sorry it's a stupid name to you guys, I guess I should say football) any more than I already did, which was nil.

I still liked the movie, or at least didn't hate it. All it represented to me was another example of human nature (or in us males' case, testosterone) resulting in stupid meaningless acts of violence. Don't get me wrong, I love mindless violence, just sayin, thats what I took away from the movie. Football/soccer was not on my mind at all.

I'm an American and really wasn't into football until I studied in Leicester for a year. But I let the fates decide (by way of throwing darts) who I should support. I am now a Blue for life. Birmingham City Blue that is. Its been tougher since relegation, but I find ways to see/hear the matches.
Oh and only just recently watched green street. Fantastic film, liked the zulu shoutout, but was sad I didn't see any brum shirts..

I'm Canadian and a Manchester United fan, huge fan. Became a fan because they were one of the few teams (maybe the easiest) to watch on television, along with the other British teams that make CL. I liked the first half of this movie, thought it went a bit over the top in the second half. But this didn't make me a fan of football, have been since i was ten and watched 98 world cup. It just made me more interested in the firms and hooliganism. I'd assume people who moved here and families supported West Ham would. I know a few people who became Newcastle fans that way. To be honest, (even when in premier league) it was very hard to catch West Ham on television. Maybe streaming has made this easier, but its very rare to find someone who supports a team outside of United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Tottenham, and Newcastle have sizable fan bases. Also City has a growing fan base due to the large arab population here. Further other successful teams out side of england have sizable support (Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve, Inter, and AC). Also because of the sizable decedents of Scotish people here, there is support for the Old Firm teams.
