it's obviously because people are partial to the originals. fans of the original anything are rarely fans of remakes or a change in casting of their favorite characters. it's an inevitable complaint for any kind of re-imagining.
These are my opinions.
It's cause those ppl wouldn't know a great movie if it bit them in the butt! I loved it & can't wait to see the sequel too.

I don't really hate it. I just don't find it funny. Maybe they should have cast a British actor to do Clouseau again. Not sure it would have helped though. The script/director has to back the actor up.
As for great movies... The original Pink Panthers are great movies. When you wish to build on the foundation of such movies, you have to get it right.
I somewhat enjoy this movies.... its not great, but I am happy to watch it.
To me its to slap-stick and relies on far to many cheap jokes, which has not had a place since the mid 1980's.
If it happen to be on tv I will watch it, or if I stumble across the dvd in my collection I might be in the mood to watch it for the sake of it.... but I can go years without any interest in it.
Out of the two movies I prefer the sequel more.
