which is your favourite remake of an horror movie

This one, hands down.

That is a hard one 'cause there are a lot of Horror remakes that were very disappointing in comparison to the original and some of them have been downright bad and should have never even been created like the remakes of April Fool's Day and Children of the Corn but some I can think of are

I don't consider The Thing to be a "remake" of the 1951 film which wasn't called "The Thing" just The Thing from Another World since they are 2 very very completely different standalone films. It was actually another adaptation of the 1938 John W Campbell book Who Goes There and a more faithful adaptation, The Thing from Another World was just a typical 50's monster film that was a very loose adaptation of the book.

Now The Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are true remakes since they are actually based on the motion pictures produced earlier and based on the screenplays of those films which they credit.

Afterall adaptations and remakes are 2 very different things.

The Ring.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Everyone seems to hate them, but I prefer the remakes of The Fog and Black Christmas to the originals.

Other remakes are good or, at least, pretty good, but they're not superior to the original, like Friday the 13th, Dawn of the Dead, The Amityville Horror, The Blob, The Fly, Psycho and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Then there are the remakes that are not very good -- even lousy -- compared to the originals, like Piranha, Carrie, The Invasion and The Stepford Wives.
