which is your favourite remake of an horror movie

... for my part it's this one

I have a hard time deciding on number one, but I have 4 top choices:

The Thing
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Fly
Hills Have Eyes

Texas was the first remake since the 80s that really caught my attention. Personally I always thought it was better than the original.

Honestly I don't see how someone can even compare Texas Chainsaw 1974 and the remake. They are nothing like each other at all. One is hardcore realistic filmmaking while the new one is glossed over MTV boredom.

reply

I can't see how anyone could be bored with the remake

I'll assume you're referring to the Little Shop of Horrors with Rick Moranis and Steve Martin? That's not a remake, it's an adaptation of a stage musical, which was, in turn, based on the original film.

Exactly. Boo.

the ring? really?!?

The Ring is AMAZING! One of the only 3 horror films to scare me (Alongside Black Christmas original & Silent Hill)

RZH2 isn't a remake, but I think it was probably the worst movie I have ever seen. The actual remake was a lot better, but still not awesome.

Rob Zombie's Halloween II is one of the worst movies I've seen and I've seen lots. There is no plot, its basically two hours of the sister screaming while Michael chases her through run-down houses.

For me it's this one or Dawn Of The Dead.

reply

I'm going to go with my favorites.

Dawn of the Dead
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Hills Have Eyes
The Ring

The real world hurts, doesn't it? But you wouldn't know anything about that, would you?

reply

i like pretty much all of the remakes but i think dawn of the dead is probably the best

The Thing
The Hills Have Eyes
The Blob
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Dawn of the Dead

No, the plot is that the reason he kills has to do with the old Celtic ritual of samheim which is where the holiday of Halloween came from. In this ritual the person must kill every member if their family in order to rid away evil spirits which is why he only attacks on Halloween. It's not clearly explained in the first but if you watch the rest it is explained.

No one has the nerve to remake The Exorcist.

Nightmare on Elm Street - I know most people loathed it but I welcomed the return of dark and brutal Freddy.

TCM - It was my first TCM movie

Friday the 13th - It was my first Friday the 13th movie.

Dawn of the Dead

Night of the Living Dead

Last House of the Left

House on Haunted Hill

Haters gonna hate

I can't believe someone mentioned rob zombies Halloween 2 on here. Literally the *beep* movie. Terrible.

reply

I agree absolutely terrible.

My fav would be dawn of the dead, tcm would be a close second, & the hills have eyes

reply

Dude, Zombie's first Halloween was BORING as hell. But I was pleasantly surprised with Halloween II, even if the plot was convoluted as all hell, there was still something weirdly entertaining about it.
