One one the most underrated movies.....

It's so hard to understand why such an amazing movie like this has been cast aside. I mean this movie recieves no press at all even though it was without a doubt the best movie of 2002 by far.

It's like its been totally overlooked. It wasn't even included in Empire's 500 Greatest Movie list.

What a shame, hopefully over time this movie will pick up the recognation it truly deserves.

Hanks was and is typecast so goddamn much as America's Favorite Son so much today it made or makes people feel manipulated into loving or caring about a known murderer like Michael. However, they also don't live in reality. In that time, even the law couldn't be trusted. Even cops were thugs, easily bought off by crime organizations. In that kind of hell, I want a father like Michael, capable of doing whatever it takes to protect me. And Hanks was phenomenal in the role.

The only real flaw in the whole film is Michael Jr's last line, "That was the last time I ever held a gun." Anyone with common sense knows Michael would grow up and go to war.

But, I'll tell you. I saw this in theaters. One time I saw this with my mom and there were two young ladies sitting behind us. When Mike gets shot by Maguire, they literally screamed and started weeping.
