Terrible Movie

I didn't wanna watch this movie because I read about it and watched a few clips on youtube and thought the movie's premise and everything were crap. I kept hearing people talk about the movie so I finally watched it and, of course, it sucked.

Reasons why this movie sucked:
Animation is terrible and is just incoherently thrown in the film.
Chick is ugly and wears ugly clothes.
She screams at parts for really no reason or added element to the movie.
Transportation, the fact that such inventions exist and she doesn't use them. (she even could have asked for a ride at one point)
She doesn't get tired from running.
She is in a huge hurry but will stop to have a vague conversation that takes longer than her running.
The dialogue in the movie is terrible. The Plot is terrible. The Premise is terrible.
Telephones, the fact that such inventions exist. (she can't call her dad?)
Random flashbacks with the polaroids that have nothing to do with the plot.
She bets $100? and wins $3,700 dollars, then bets that and wins $100,000. (Doesn't make sense. Even if it was multiplying by 37 it would be $136,900) PS- The odds of this are ridiculous.
The fact that she has 20 minutes to run somewhere, argue with people, get 100,000$, run back. Who the hell is going to give this crack whore any money?

And the most retarded thing of all -Guy gives the bum a gun at the end? Wtf

I'm leaving out tons of other reasons why this movie is bad because there are too many to list and/or I just forgot them because I put this movie into the storage part of my brain to be rewritten asap.

You are easily the worst film critic on the crust of this Earth. Stop watching movies, or atleast talking about them. Otherwise morew and more people will just think you're an idiot.

May I also add that Starship Troopers is among your top three favourite movies of all time. What are you eight years old or something?

reply

uh oh...what does it say about me that I think Run Lola Run is one of my favorite movies...yet Starship Troopers is one of my most favorite guilty pleasures.

The unmedicated life is not worth living.

reply

Haha but you can recognize it as a guilty pleasure rather than a masterpiece hehe

reply

Because its *beep* awesome? I'm 24.

What, who said anything about Transformers? Transformers was just above average imo. Again, what kind of counter argument do you have to my OP?

"Animation is terrible and is just incoherently thrown in the film."
The animation starts each of the sections off, and decides how each will resolve. How is that just 'incoherently thrown in'?

"Chick is ugly and wears ugly clothes."
I think Franka is pretty cute. You'll be interested to know that not everyone looks like a plastic hollywood move star, and some people like to see REAL looking people in movies

"Transportation, the fact that such inventions exist and she doesn't use them."
What sort of transportation could she have reliably got to get her accross town in 20 minutes, first stopping at her Dad's bank? If she spent 10 minutes waiting for a taxi/bus/train then she'd be too late

"She doesn't get tired from running."
It's 20 minutes! She runs about 10 minutes to her Dad's work, then 10 minutes to the supermarket. You can't run for two legs of 10 minutes?

"She is in a huge hurry but will stop to have a vague conversation that takes longer than her running."
What vague conversations?

"The dialogue in the movie is terrible. The Plot is terrible. The Premise is terrible."
That's not an argument so I won't provide a 'counter argument'

"Telephones, the fact that such inventions exist. (she can't call her dad?)"
She still would have needed to collect the money from her father. It would probably be easier to ask for $100K in person than over the phone.

"Random flashbacks with the polaroids that have nothing to do with the plot."
The flashbacks when each character is dying which gives some details in to the character and their history and starts of the next leg of the film? That part that has 'nothing to do with the plot'?

"She bets $100? and wins $3,700, then bets that and wins $100,000." Who says she won $100,000. As you say she would have won $136,900. She needed AT LEAST $100,000. Would you rather she took her $3,700 from the roulette and found a game that paid exactly 27.027027 to 1?

"PS- The odds of this are ridiculous." Roughly one in 1,369 - far from impossible.

"The fact that she has 20 minutes to run somewhere, argue with people, get 100,000$, run back. Who the hell is going to give this crack whore any money?"
Nice argument.

It's not dollars, it's Deutsche mark.

Each and every criticism you listed was part of the wonder of the movie. It is meant to be an andrenaline rush movie. In the beginning, the police officer says: The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes, everything else is pure theory. DOES THAT NOT MAKE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOUR ARGUMENTS IRRELEVANT? You argue the logic, when the idea is that there is no logic. There are 3 alternative time lines, all presented parallel, and all intertwined in some way through strange supernatural phenomena.

Not to mention half of your arguments are completely shallow and make you sound like an ignoramus. You have no right to critisize this movie if you don't even have the maturity to look past the unique look of its star.

And, you fail to mention how brilliant the direction is--everything in the film is on beat to the techno score. When Lola runs through the arches, each pillar is matched with a beat. When she speaks, it is in usison with the music. The camera work itself is flawless.

All you have succeeded in doing on this board is dig yourself a deeper hole and make your self look substantially ignorant, and absolutely uninformed in the subject of film. I failed to even see where you were coming from in your arguments, because it seemed as though you didn't even think through what you were saying, or you just have no idea what you're talking about. If you're going to insult a movie, at least have your thoughts straight, or at least invent some intelligent points to make before you make a fool of yourself.

'Real' movies? *beep* off , i agree with the OP. This movie is awful. And no I don't dislike it because I'm not some interlectual person who can appreciate the beautiful animation and ground breaking plot. People who say they like this film are attemptign and failing to appear cultured and individual. They should appreciate the film for what it is.An awful film.

reply

I couldn't agree more. It was all crap.

true, for one the movie is german. the germans cant do anything without coming off a little too ambitious.

but this movie is more reverred for its direction and not its plot. the camerawork is near flawless.

reply

The fact you consider The Big Lebowski a drama says it all. You don't really know what you're talking about.

reply

Did you miss this part: "Drama(Including all sub-genres):"
There are so many categories and sub categories you can't organize it all efficiently without generalizing A LOT.
It is a funny movie, but I wouldn't tell people it was a comedy. Its more of a Self Journey type of movie. In other words, a drama with comedic elements.

PS- You didn't argue my OP either, you just tried to insult me like the other d-bags.

That's cause you're OP isn't worth arguing. I'm more interested in why you think Lebowski is a drama. It's very much a comedy. If you think it's more of a drama you must not have got many of the jokes. Nothing wrong with it. I'm not trying to insult you, just found it amusing.

reply

"PS- You didn't argue my OP either, you just tried to insult me like the other d-bags."

really? your OP didn't sound a hell of a lot different. i think we all have every right to insult you, it's a common reflex to insult somebody who likes to come onto the internet and show everyone how far his head goes up his ass when NOBODY is interested in seeing it.

btw you fvcking idiot you gave Riki-Oh a 6.5/10, you need to be shot for not giving that movie its full 10/10. ill see to it that your tongue is pulled from your throat for the woodchipper.

reply

And SpoR-One, and obviously you have only started this thread in order to have a fight/argument, so you really don't deserve to be treated respectfully.

You started the thread with extremism and then you chastise people for being equally extreme in return? You attest all you want to the freedom of speech, but if you haven't got the ability to communicate and share your opinions in a constructive way, then you are defeating the purpose of having opinions in the first place.

So, you're 24. Well you're acting a lot younger than that. I suggest you go out and have some real conversations and see how its done.

reply

Okay first of all, let me start by saying that if you didn't think the movie looked good, why did you bother to watch it...

Second, your reasons for hating the movie are rediculous. I mean what re you, the fashion police? "Holy crap guys her clothes don't match!! Quick let's bash this movie cause she doesn't dress like me!"
She screams to get attention, which last time I checked is a good way to get people to listen to you.
Next, are you just blind? Can you not see her breathing heavy after running? And obviously you have never been to a european country because all the buildings are close enough to run to and it would waste time trying to find a ride.
And yes of course they have phones but calling her dad won't work because she still has to go down to the bank to get the money to give to her boyfriend.
You are actually right about one thing, the polaroids are random but they still make the movie interesting by showing the whole "what if this happened instead" view of things.

I guess you didn't realize that this movie is in German, so that means that the translations aren't going to be 100% accurate, so unless you are fluent in German you have no clue what the real dialogue is.
On that same note, the money she bets isn't in US dollars, there are other currencies in the world, this so happens to be german marks so therefore the odds and exchange rate is completely different.

Alas we have come to the end of my response to your OP and in closing I would like to say, stick with more movies that contain "violence, gore, and suspense" because according to you that's what all good movies must have. So do us all a favor, if you don't think a movie will beviolent enough for you, save yourself some time and don't go wathc it and then bash it on IMDB because believe it or not, there are people who think your taste in movies are not the greatest

reply

one word for the "greatest" reviewer...

that's all he deserved

I agree it was a crap movie but I don't necessarily agree with your point of view.
