How can people like this movie

Seriously what is soo special about this film. It's a watered down version of star wars..

But seriously nominated for an oscar??? Why wasn't battleearth nominated for one?
It was soo much better?

Please tell me what makes this film great? I thought Dogma was better .

Some people just don't "GET" this movie. And that's cool. I really enjoyed it! Lots of unique characters and the humor was very tongue in cheek.

Star Wars sucks compared to this masterpiece!

This movie has remained on my top ten movie list for some time. I watch it at least once a year. It's fun, funny, exciting, visually engaging, perfectly paced with no sections that drag or annoy (I still find the potentially infuriating Chris Tucker hilarious in this even after repeated viewings,) it has a satisfying plot and great performances by everyone involved. And, it has a great soundtrack! In short, it is in my opinion as near to a perfect movie as one could hope to find. Don't expect it to be anything it's not - a blockbuster Sci-Fi movie.

But that is just my opinion. To put my movie tastes in perspective, one of my other perennial Top Ten movies is "Some Like It Hot" with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe, just so you know where I'm coming from.

I never even considered comparing it to Star Wars. I just like the film, I don't know why. It's just entertaining.

This was a humorous but also insightful look into what the future may look like. If you've ever lived in New York City, you'd appreciate the subtle references to everyday life in the Big City and the numerous pop-art references make this a classic.

Imagine what people from 200 years ago would think if they saw how we live today? And imagine what we would think about the future.... there's the fun.

I really can't explain my love for this movie. Oh wait, I can. It's awesome!

It's a film that's really greater than the sum of its parts. If you look at it on paper, it totally wouldn't work. Bruce Willis? Gary Oldman? Iam Holm? An extremely annoying Chris Tucker? ????? A futuristic sci-fi religious save-the-world adventure?! Wha?

But it just all beautifully works. It's funny and sweet, visually appealing, witty and snarky. Even the side characters are fleshed out and hilarious. It's one of my top 10 favorite movies.

Obviously you weren't around for the hype. It was the best part of the movie. Never seen marketing like this.
