It's actually a very good movie. Although, I will admit, it borrows a lot of ideas from other prison films.

Still good though. And I don't mind that it's rated number 1 on the IMDB Top 250, it's a worthy film.

It's pretty good, worth seeing once, but a huge worship cult has grown around it as if it's the greatest piece of cinema ever created. It's not. Not even the 250th greatest. It is a monument to overrating.

Honestly, it NEVER looked interesting to me EVER. Then I finally watched it to see what the fuss was about, and found it was really very good at what it does, in every way. Just kind of amazing how well everything worked to keep ME entertained by it. Generic DRAMA is very low on my movie interests, but this was great.
