Battle actually was not that terrible
Actually the Battle of Stalingrad was not near as bad as what most people think. It is interesting, but not really that big of a deal. Good movie, but I would not bother to watch it a second time.

shareMate I cant belive that you actually started this thread. Read Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor and you might actually Realize what an idiot you are for posting this thread. Around 1.5 million people died at stalingrad and your just going to say it wasnt that bad. Compared to what a nuclear strike. A nuclear strike would kill alot more people yes but look what the people in stalingrad had to endure for 200 days. The streets lined with dead bodies , Russian snipers shooting children who filled up water bottles for german soldiers, Women Selling there bodies for food, Rape , Tortue , Execution , civilians being hung from rafters. Are you a complete Idiot. Id love for you to say that to anyone who Survied stalingrad and see how long it is before they smack you in the mouth
DUCKS FLY TOGETHER!

Yup. A million or so dead is not so bad... no big deal. Offensive idiot.

It is estimated that including civilians there were between 1.25 and 1.8 million casualties at the Battle of Stalingrad. 40,000 civilians were killed during the aerial bombardment of the city alone, prior to the appearance of the main invasion force. Those numbers make it potentially the bloodiest battle in history, only possibly rivaled by the siege of Leningrad and the Battle of the Somme during World War I.
I don't see how that is "not that terrible."

To the OP: if you try just a little harder, you could possibly insult all veterans of all the wars fought. You remind me of the type that has read much and lived little. Don't get your hands too dirty, you might actually do something worthwhile in life.

I've recently read through the entire thread and now just wanted to add that artisticengineer is an incredible complete moron insulting and offending living and dead veterans with his idiotic posts and that he should openly apologize here on the forums. I am not insulting him but only expressing my sole opinion.
shareThought I would also add that the closest we came to Nuclear War was in 1962 when i was in the 2ND grade I believe. We had the duck and cover drills where we ran to the basement and ducked and covered our heads i think with our hands. It was a 2 room schoolhouse in Lynn, Mass.
We also had air raid sirens going off and you were supposed to go to your basement at the family home.
That was pretty damn close if you ask me !!
Not that terrible? no only close to a million men, women and children from both sides perished during the Battle for Stalingrad fool!
Unless you were actually there and experienced it making a ridiculous statement like that just makes you sound like an idiot.
Go back to your warm safe cubicle and keep your pie hole shut on subjects you have no clue about. ;) danke
Simply astounding that the OP would say what he did.
Of course in another post of his regarding Stalingrad.. "The Germans were never able to get close enough to Moscow to deliver an air strike against that city."
Not true. While they certainly didn't do widespread damage to Moscow, the Luftwaffe was able to bomb it, and they did, with the first time being July 22, 1941.
Stalingrad was a horrendous battle.I own all the Leaping horsemen Books put out as well as David glantz's Stalingrad books and many ( around 12 19) other books mostly by veterans who served there.
Battle actually was not that terrible
where the hell were you born anyways ? This battle was one of the most sickening blood splattered killing battles it boggles the mind thinking of it.
END
OP..you are a first class ASS!
