Better than the 2017 movie

I remember seeing the original on television when it came out . I thought (and still think) it was very good although the 2nd part was a bit weak. I enjoyed the characters and still think that Curry's Pennywise is still the best.

I saw the remake this evening. I must say that I was not disappointed! The kids were awesome actors. The backstories of the children was a bit confusing compared to the book and 1990 movie but I can forgive that. It was well done!

The new Pennywise was terrifying and very sinister. I appreciated his character but wished a bit more humor could be interjected into his character. Bill Skarsgård did an incredible job as Pennywise don't get me wrong. Curry's character was humorous yet menacing. This made Pennywise all the more horrifying in my opinion.

"Humorous yet menacing" this exactly why Curry was perfect for the role. Skarsgard was creepy and scary but I cannot remember any moment where he made me laugh, yet I can think of several funny moments from Curry!

Absolutely, the 2017 movie is one of the worst I've seen, lol when that stupid clown starts to dance at the end I didn't know if I was supposed to laugh or what.

the new one has a satanic metal band called anthraxe making music on the rock war scene,
come on now, we don't want devil music in our movies, this film is a dumpstore

darkpast - Hell you're crazy man! Read the book.

reply

Yeah.... no. Not even close. The 1990 miniseries is painfully cheesy and just pathetic.

reply

You're right, the mini-series had its problems and flaws but is superior to this surprisingly bad movie. People are so deluded they're even talking about Academy Awards...

JUST watched the new one. And I think the 90s one was better. I liked the kids a lot more. The kid actors for Richie, Ben, Billy And Bev were better. And I feel like Mike was an after thought in this one. Liked all the kid better in the original.

I think the Georgie seen is better in this one.

I like both versions to an extent. The 2017 version was much better made, but I prefer Tim's Pennywise over Bill.

reply

I think both versions are inferior to the book (nothing succeeds in scaring you like your own imagination), but they each have their plusses. The new film has much better effects. The mini-series is better scripted and captures more of the essence of an "ancient evil" and the camaraderie between the kids.
