The business guy makes continued references to the "orientals". Today, use of that term is archaic. I am not making a point about pc, I am just stating a fact, as someone who has been to Asia.

shareThey used to say it in Britain since Asian there means South Asian, as previously mentioned. Not meaning East Asian as in American English. Now I think they just say East or Southeast Asian.
shareI'm a Brit. Funnily enough I heard someone described as Oriental on TV the other day. I thought then, 'Haven't heard that in a while'. But as someone else here said, in the UK it was just a descriptive term for where the people came from. It wasn't used as an insult in itself.
