Goodfellas vs taxi driver vs raging bull

taxi driver has to be the strongest movie i have ever seen. I mean ive seen Rain Man, Bucket List and those kind of happy movies but taxi driver leaves an impact. Its not my favorite movie but it has to be De Niro's best. This is just my opinion. I really want to know your justification for which De Niro classic is the best and why

I would say it's between Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. Goodfellas, while being a fantastic movie, plays out like a documentary at parts. Not a bad thing, but I enjoy much more the subjective view of taxi driver.

Goodfellas is more of a "fun" movie compared to these two. Once again, i agree with you on taxi driver

I'm with ya on Taxi Driver - it's my fav of those 3 and the other 2 I liked about equally well.

Raging Bull, closely followed by Mean Streets and Taxi Driver.

It's my pick because it left an impact on me like very few films have ever done. And it basically made me look at film-making as a true art form - De Niro's dynamic and frighteningly realistic performance, Scorsese's direction, the music, the symbolism, etc. it's a brilliant picture with no flaws, at least that's how I feel.

I could probably relate more to Travis Bickle as a person (minus the whole assassination/pimp murdering feelings), but film wise, Raging Bull is my number one.

I love the 3 films, but i'm a huge fan of the duo Scorsese/Schrader and their best work together is Taxi Driver...

All are fantastic films which deal with completely different topic matters. For me it would have to go to Raging Bull.

Most film critics seem to regard Raging Bull as the best film of the 3.

Despite being a huge boxing fan and admiring the film's brilliance, I like it the least of the 3. Maybe the pacing, maybe just the depressing subject matter, or knowing the heinous things that Jake LaMotta did that weren't the film (although you can say the same about Goodfellas), but something about this just makes this the least enjoyable of the 3 for me.

Although the follow shot of his entrance to the ring for the title bout was absolutely amazing. One of my favorite scenes ever in film. I like it just as much, if not more, than the date scene in Goodfellas of them going through the back. I love the build up, seeing the crowd and hearing the noise and support, then backing away as he is going to the ring to battle ALONE.

My personal preference is:

Goodfellas
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull

1. Goodfellas. 2. Raging Bull. 3. Taxi Driver. All are violent, and feature unlikable characters, but I love Robert DeNiro's acting!

-Goodfellas: very enjoyable and deep look into a gangster's life. Great performance by Pecsi, it's one of the best movies ever! 10/10

-Raging Bull: perhaps one of the best cinematography of all time, the black and white contributes to the most depressing movie of the 80's. The fighting scenes are masterpieces alone, De Niro's acting and Scorsese's directing are both pretty good, still the movie lacks a good pacing and story to tell. 7/10

-Taxi Driver: the movie documents a man's journey into madness and ironically is seen as a hero. I still can't find its greatness but the movie is still good 7/10

These last two movies along with Apocalypse Now and The Godfather Part 2 are the most overrated movies from Scorsese and FFC

Goodfellas > Raging Bull, Taxi Driver

The Godfather > PArt II, Apocalypse Now

While i agree with you that Goodfellas is better than the other two, i disagree that the GF part 2 is overrated. It is on of the greatest films of all time, its near perfect for me. Although i do enjoy watching part 1 more because it is easier to watch and Brando's performance blows me away every time. I also like seeing Michael's transformation. But back to the topic..

1. Goodfellas
2. Casino
3. Taxi Driver
4. Raging Bull
5. Mean Streets
6. The departed

1: Taxi Driver - Great movie. One of my favorites.

2: Raging Bull - I watched it for the first time yesterday. It was pretty good but I wasn't blown away. I'm going to watch it again.

3:Goodfellas: Some good parts, but I wouldn't watch it again.
