Best scene

I don't know what the best scene was in this one. I like the begining with "In. Out. In. Out. And now for the kiss of life." and also on the parallel bars when he dismounts down the stairwell. What do you think?

reply

Surprised nobody's mentioned the funeral oration for the "dead" Clouseau, where Dreyfus seems to be weeping unconsoledly, when in reality his "sobs" are stifled laughter. Herbert Lom is just magnificent in that scene, which really should go down as one of the greatest comic vignettes in cinema history.

Best Bits:

The fight scene with Cato is brilliant throughout: '40 winks', Cato falling through the bed, initial fight on bed, the two of them running to their respective weapons cupboards, Cato selecting long stick and whipping it round his body: 'SAAAAAH!'- Clouseau selecting the nun-chucks followed by slo-mo of him swirling them round his body, slo-mo of Cato crashing into the TV, Clouseau's nun-chuck breaking on Cato's back. Cleoseau gets new stick, demolishes lampshade, table etc, Cato tries to follow him through doorway and falls back when his stick can't get through. FUNNIEST BIT: Clouseau tripping over Dreyfus's periscope leading to slo-mo fall with Cato while below Dreyfus falls from the ceiling. The intercutting with the two scenes is hilarious, the slowed down screams made by Dreyfuss, Clouseau and Cato make me laugh so much every time!

Then the phone rings: Clouseau: Its the pheun. The pheun is ringing' Cato gives him his stick and Clouseau promptly brains him with it!

Also the dog scene, Graham Stark's deadpan 'That is not my dog' delivery is brilliant!

When the butler and Clouseau are upstairs and he's tapping the panels and finally announces 'This is a door'! Then when Clouseau's on the treadmill and the butler just opens the door and walks in revealing what he's on.

Absoloutely brilliant film!

everything, especially after the fight with Cato!

And the way Clouseau talks!

I start laughing the minute Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) starts with that nervous twitch. So, so funny. Sometimes, I think Lom's performance outshines Sellers'.

reply

-Dreyfus getting hit in the face with a rake and falling into the water.

-The Clouseau vs. Kato fight, especially when Kato's staff goes through the TV screen.

-The parallel bars. "Ah yes. I remember WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH"

-Stepping on the Ladies toes and then knocking over the suit of armour.

-All the rest of the Mansion scene.

-The "dagger breasted" assasin spiking the giant pretzel.

-Clouseau trying to enter the castle and falling into the moat about 10000 times.

and loads more.

Absolutely hilarious film.

Cato's "canopy bed ambush ploy" in the beginning and of course the slo-mo fight, the highlight of which is when Clouseau busts the nunchuks on Cato's head.

Other random bits of brilliance:

"Francois!!! Staaaat the caaahhhhh!!!"

Dreyfus acknowledging the dummy of Clouseau in the corner of the Hopital Psychiatrique Administrator's office.

Pulling Francois' tie to lean forward in the chair.

"I prefer to handle this... alleaune."

The Hunchback Disguise Kit.

The Fassbender staff interrogation sequence, starting with Clouseau's arrival at the mansion and the "almost shaking Jarvis' hand" gag.

Dreyfus' periscope POV of Clouseau stalking Cato in the apartment; the part where Clouseau lets out a cry and does a jump-turn, shooting uncooked spaghetti out of his grocery bag.

"It's Doctor Schoitz, from the villeage, yeau kneau!"

"Harry he deaus not wish to be disturbed yeau kneau."

"Heauw's this?" "Grotesque!"

"Ahahahahaaaaahhh... he pulled the wrong tooth! Only one man would pull the wrong tooth! It's Clouseau! Keeel heem, ahhahahhahhahhhhhh!"

Ainsley Jarvis using her last breath to kiss Clouseau on the cheek, and the look on Clouseau's face immediately after.

"Yes. A brochure cleau."

"I was kneaun as the Pavlova of the Parallels... yes yes, it's all coming back to me now. Ah yessss... I remember AAEEAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

"Mark my words Francois, sinister feaurces are at work!"

Etc etc... really, this whole thing from start to finish is an absolute winner and NEVER gets old. Pure bliss. :)

There are several brilliant scenes in this such as the parallel bars and the interrogation of all the guests that followed, as well as the laughing gas moment and "does your dog bite?" but there's one scene in the film that is the absolute highlight for me and it never fails to make me laugh (although admittedly the whole film never fails to make me laugh)

The Clouseau vs Kato fight hands down, when he smacks Kato in the back of the head with the nun chuk and Kato flies forward smashing his staff right through the television all in slow motion has me in tears every time. And also when Clouseau trips over Dreyfuss's peroscope and sends Dreyfuss himself falling to the floor off his pile in slow motion has me laughing hysterically also.

reply

I agree dannyboy123, the nun chuk slow motion scene is awesome.

But the best one is the scene in when he interview the staff, if you include the pralellbars. Starts whit Cleusau falling down the stairs, smash the piano, knocking down the bee-guy. Amazing. Saw it yesterday and I just couldn't stop laughing, had to watch the scene 2-3 times. I have actually never catched his comment to the bee-guy before (probably because I've still laughed of the piano-smash): "You should count your bees, and you'll probably found that one are missing".

My fave parts of this movie have to be:

* The parallel bars scene "Ah yes, I remember WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

* Clouseau and Kato fighting - I love the part where Clouseau trips and then falls over in slow motion!

* Clouseau trying to get into the castle and falling into the moat so many times!

*Clouseau smashing the piano when trying to kill a bee in the mansion ( Mrs Leverlilly says "You've ruined that piano!" LOL!)

* The laughing gas scene!!

* Kato's stick going through the TV screen during the fight!

* The part where Clouseau dresses up as Hunchback of Notre Dame and the hump on the back is inflatable and then Clouseau is on the phone with Dreyfus who is disguising his voice and the hump keeps inflating and Clouseau floats out of the window then falls into the water!!

SPIDER PIG!! Loving the simpsons movie!

The funniest scene is the battle between Clouseau and Kato, while Dreyfus tries to assassinate Clouseau from the apartment direcly below. When Kato runs at Clouseau with the stick (the action AND screaming are in slow motion), and the inspector side steps him, then whaps Kato's neck with the weapon, one part of it flies off, and Kato continues running, puncturing the television screen with the stick and the ensuing explosion...I laugh my ass off! And it's not even a joke! It's just one guy running at another, missing him and destroying a television, but holy CROW! WHAT a GREAT scene! And you've GOT to include the scene of Clouseau tripping on the periscope , knocking Dreyfus off the step and (in slow motion..."UUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" and a cloud of dust, and a hearty Heigh-Ho, Silver...wait a minute, I'm mixing my metaphors....), while the two scenes are intercut is HILARIOUS!!!

reply

i like when the gang of killers are all trying to kill him at the same time, and in the bathroom, two are in stalls opposite sides, and clouseau bends over and the two killers end up shooting each other

reply

When he's interrogating the staff at the fassbender mansion.
The whole scene, but especially the part where he flails the bee keeper! That one totally cracked me up. :)
