Best scene

I don't know what the best scene was in this one. I like the begining with "In. Out. In. Out. And now for the kiss of life." and also on the parallel bars when he dismounts down the stairwell. What do you think?

reply

I haven't seen this for years, but one sequence that's stuck in my memory is when Clouseau tries to cross the moat and get into the castle. The coordination of the music with Clouseau's antics was perfect, and added to the hilarity of the scene.

All those mentioned are great, but my personal fave is the scene of Dreyfus at the organ, playing "Tiptoe Through The Tulips" as he disappears (a burlesque of his role as the Phantom Of The Opera in a Hammer film in the early 60's).

reply

I love the part when Clouseau goes into the dark room in the mansion and flicks the switch. This turns on the treadmill and he's walking on it with his match. I piss my pants everytime.

Fight against chinese guy wins, IMHO.

Oktober Fest 'How many are there left?' 'Just the Egyptian and the Russian'

Fight with Cato, how they circle around each other back to back, classic.

Dreyfus 'Have a sweet' after explaining his villanous masterplan.

'Your face is melting!'

The moat scene

When Jarvis is dying and kisses Clouseau although he looks like he's trying to speak.

Clouseau holding up his police ID to his face and having shifty eyes, kills me every time...

Cato crawling under the bed sheets at the end.

Interrogating the Fassbender staff.

'Pavlova of the parallels'

'Is there anybody hiding there in the dark?'

Too many to mention really

I've just been given a 6 DVD set of all the Panthers and my body is aching with laughter. Strikes again is the best though, for all the scenes people have already mentioned, you knewww

reply

OMG I love the scene with cato

reply

Have anyone mentioned the scene, where Clouseau when trying to get his chair back in normal position (the chair is "leaning" backward) grabs the tie of Sgt. François Chevalier thereby smashing Chevaliers head down on the table. (... and noone comments the episode!)

Whenever I watch this movie my stomach cramps!

reply

When Dreyfus puts on his iron glove and gives Fassbinder's daughter the business in the "schoolroom." Sellers is terrific in this film, but Lom is en fuego.

reply

Its just to hard to pick a best scene as this is one of the best films of all time. I cant beleive how low the score is for it. The opening mental hospital is a good laugh. The kato fight is side splitting, the parallel bars righ through to the interogation is probably the best chunk of comedey ever produced, now there is a lesson in comedey! Plus who could forget "does your dog bite"!

reply

For me it's two scenes:

1) DREYFUS: "First I will escort you to your car - which should rightfully be mine!! - I will kiss you GOOD-BYE! and then I will go into the interview board, and then they will set me free. And then (rubber-tipped sucker lands on Dreyfus's forehead) I will kill you. (goes berserk) KEEEL HIM! KEEEL HIM! KEEEL HIM! I WANT TO KEEL HIM!"

CLOUSEAU: (running for his life) Francois! Francois, start the car!!

2) The first entrance of the Incomparable Ainsley Jarvis, and the dance afterwards. "Oh the Inspector was just telling me to weatch my step, because, back home in France he's known as "KIng of the Tango".." "TANGO?!?!" "Oh I'd LOVE to!"

Lots of funny moments here:

-The Fight with Clouseau and Cato
-The Whole Interrogation Scene (along with the parrallel bars)
-The ending
-The Bathroom Scene with Clouseau and the assassins
-The Dentist Scene
-Clouseau being catapulted into Dreyfus' lair

Weird is the new normal.

My favourite scene is the moat : anyone knows about the music on this scene ?

reply

mental asylum
moat
laughing gas
oktoberfest
interrogation

"thats my case! HEUH"

reply

The laughing gas scene sure takes the cake. It's not only the best in one in this movie, but the best one in the whole series and certainly among cinema's greatest comedy moments ever.

you arrived home, found Miguel with Maria Gambrelli, and killed him in a rit of fealous jage!

reply

Henry Mancini provided the incidental music, which I agree is very cool and understated as Clouseau attempts to make it inside the castle. Wish the soundtrack was available on CD.

I've discovered chords harmonies for this beautiful music. Maybe somebody will find it useful. It's pretty accurate I believe ;) And of course you can whistle melody along if you want :)))

Which music are you referring to? The Panther theme?

reply

No, the one which plays during bedroom scene and a moat scene.

No, the one which plays during bedroom scene and a moat scene.

The bedroom scene where he phones the Hotel front desk and says there's a dead man in the bath and a beautiful woman in his bed?

reply

Well, the only time I laughed or even smiled during the entire movie was when he hit the beekeeper in the face with the mace...so I'd have to pick that one.

reply

Shork (after Clouseau accidently smacks the beerkeeper one with the knights glove)
"Are you alright Mr Stutterstratt?

Clouseau "Who are you?"

Shork "Hes Mr Stutterstratt"

Clouseau "I was not asking you i was asking Mr Stuffsucker"

reply

clouseau: Tell me, does your deuwg bite?

innkeeper: No.

clouseau: Nice doggie. (reaches to pet dog, and then dog snaps viciously)

clouseau: I thought you said your deuwg did not bite!

innkeeper: That is not my dogk.

reply

My favorite scene is Clouseau fighting Cato at the beginning. All of the slo-mo screaming has me cracking up. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH-OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Also the PTS when Clouseau gets hit over the head by the old woman. The other old bag is getting into it. "PERVERT!"

reply

My favourite scene is Clouseau trying to get into the castle.
