Do you think Marlon was hot in Streetcar?

Somebody posted on this board that they challenge any woman to watch Streetcar and not think Marlon was sexy. Well my mother did and she didn't find him sexy. I don't agree with her but there you go. No matter how hot somebody is you can't please everybody.

It is obvious that Marlon had something about him. This was the film that launched his career afterall.

One of the points of the story of Streetcar is that Stella puts up with being in an abusive marriage because she is so attracted to Stanley that she can't leave him no matter how he treats her.

YES!

It looks like I'm the only "no". I was always more attracted to men's personalities than bodies or charisma. Watching Stanley, I felt nothing sexual. He was a brute and a frightened child, lashing out at anything that threatened him. Well-acted but not sexy in any way

Abused women don't stay with their abusers because of their "animal magnetism".

Heck freaking yeah.

When it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron.

Brando is just an exceptionally attractive man in general.

That being said, he was also extremely smart about acting and human behavior. He spoke about Stanley in his book. He stated that he always felt miscast because his own beauty hid the fact that Stanley was monstrous.

Brando also liked women and being a nasty *beep* to females was painful for him. He was especially taken with Vivian Leigh, maybe almost in love with her, and being cruel to her just broke him. It also hurt to see the role of Blanche breaking her. They both went a little crazy during and after the filming.

Oh absolutely! My feelings towards him in the film were confusing, because although I detested his character, I couldn't help but feel attracted to him all the same.

Okay, coming in almost a year and a half after the last post to say...

Marlon Brando, in the introduction scene between Stanley and Blanche, is the hottest male actor I've ever seen on screen, and it was actually a slightly disturbing experience. Blanche was fluttering around Stanley like a nervous butterfly and I felt the same way just watching the TV screen. I don't like Stanley although he is an interesting character. It's Brando's non-verbal presence I was responding to. I wasn't even born yet when this film came out but I've seen a lot of films. In that one scene alone, he earned a hotness score that's never been topped - although a few actors have come close.
