Somebody posted on this board that they challenge any woman to watch Streetcar and not think Marlon was sexy. Well my mother did and she didn't find him sexy. I don't agree with her but there you go. No matter how hot somebody is you can't please everybody.
It is obvious that Marlon had something about him. This was the film that launched his career afterall.
One of the points of the story of Streetcar is that Stella puts up with being in an abusive marriage because she is so attracted to Stanley that she can't leave him no matter how he treats her.
Hell, I'm a guy and I found this thread because I was watching the movie and DAMN AM I *beep* JEALOUS OF THAT MARLON BRANDO.
To be fair though, he's framed in the movie to be the perfect specimen of the male physique. Clothing, attitude, hair, body, everything. There have been plenty of actors just as physically attractive who don't illicit this kind of reaction simply because that's not what their role is supposed to do.
Brando was indeed every womans fantasy in the film. He always had the face, but when Streetcar was made he still had an awesome body and hadn't got fat yet.
He is the hottest man I have ever seen in my life. The word hot or sexy or any of these other adjectives does not do justice to this man's beauty. By the way to those who say he is not the hottest man they have ever seen who is, in terms of actors, because I can not find anything wrong with his face everyone I have ever met or seen I have been able to find a flaw. I am very critical in terms of faces. But with Brando I cannot and what makes it even more bizarre is the fact that he actually went through his life with a broken nose, he broke it during the original run on Broadway of A Streetcar so the Brando in this film is actually imperfect (hard to believe) Anytime someone says an actor is hot I tell them about Brando and they look at me as if they have no idea what I am talking about or they say you mean that old guy from The Godfather. I just wish I can carry a picture around so they won't think guys like Pattinson is hot anymore. lol
And like many of you prior to seeing this film I had just seen The Godfather and several others so growing up I just heard the Brando fat jokes or his legendary acting (btw it says a lot about his acting if the first things they mention are his acting skills rather than his looks) but I was still in my Pacino phase after watching The Godfather and decided to look up the other cast members and started with Brando and the first one I watched was this one. upon seeing Brando walk into his house and meeting Stella I did a double take, could not form coherent sentences, literally out of breath and words and nearly fainted WHILE sitting down on my couch. Right then and there I became obsessed with Brando and vowed to show everyone this man's untouchable beauty. Sounds weird I know but I was 16 and now 21 so I am still in love with his beauty and still weird lol and I doubt we will ever have an actor with an undeniable raw and sexual appeal. Brando had the right amount of sex and pretty boy rugged good looks and awesome acting skills. Majority of the actors today either have too much of one quality and not enough of the other; Brando had the perfect balance.
But after seeing this movie I sure wish I had a time machine lol
He was to me like the second Hottest man ever to be in film, the first Paul Newman. I mean come on has anyone ever seen A Cat On A Hot Tin Roof or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. *beep* HOTTTTTTTTTTTT!
So funny because my mother believes Newman is hotter and I believe Brando is hotter we have a debate all of the time but the reason Brando is less hot for her is because of his voice she hates his voice.
Btw I was reading a comment about those two men and someone had said that Newman is the guy you would bring home to your mother and marry and Brando is the guy a woman would meet for late night adventures ;)
I totally agree with one of the above comments: he was blindingly hot to an insane degree, but his voice was annoying- he sounded like he was trying to talk around a mouthful of spit! Still gorgeous though. You could freeze frame practically any shot with him and it would look great (maybe not the ones with food in his mouth, which were surprisingly high in number).
Paul Newman is beautiful too, his eyes so blue, they look almost ethereal.

Thank you! For a long time I thought I was the only person in the world complaining about his voice.
I'm a voice freak and I think a great voice is slightly more important to an actor than a perfect body (which certainly doesn't hurt).
It should be noted also that few actors had bodies like this in 1951, which makes Brando's appearance in this film particularly striking.
The Fabio Principle: Puffy shirts look best on men who look even better without them.
Even when I was a pre-teen and I saw pictures of him in this production and the stage one as well, I was drawn to him. And when I finally saw it as a teenager my mouth probably dropped open when he first came on screen. Oh, yeah and his performance was amazing.
Wonder Bread - Hating him only proves you're sadly lacking in imagination and flexibility.
