He had a funny career. Serious leading man in 60/70s British films and TV but more of an eccentric support character in the USA. Always good to see though - RIP
shareI was a very big fan. He had memorable performances in many films I love as unforgettable characters. The first and mosy noteworthy was Time After Time, how I adore that film and his sympathetic portrayal. Straw Dogs? And all the rest. What a great performer.
share😥 RIP
shareFarewell David, thank you for the great roles I most enjoyed you in:
- Airport '79
- Time After Time
- Star Trek(s)
- Tron
- The Man with Two Brains
- Titanic
I had no idea . . . 😪 I’m watching him now and I swung by to see what people were posting. I never saw him give a bad performance. Isn’t it interesting how often we say that about character actors? MUCH more often than about leading actors! There must be a lesson in that.
I really loved him in The Company of Wolves. I hope you bask in the company of Heaven, David. Amen.
The first film I ever saw of his was Nightwing (1979). I had it on VHS as a kid and I watched it countless times. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a performance of his that wasn’t interesting.
shareOh man, I didn't know...😢 I just did a re-watch of Wallander, he's absolutely brilliant!
shareHe was great, loved him most as the charming Jack the Ripper in Time After Time, then there's Tron, a few Star Treks, Airport '79, Time Bandits, The Man with Two Brains, Titanic.
