As popular as Morissette was in the 1990s - she wasn’t on Taylor’s level in that regard. Alanis’s music also gets categorized as alternative rock (as opposed to straight pop) whereas nobody ever mistakes Taylor Swift’s music for rock. Taylor is pop, like Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, and Dua Lipa.
