Who is this generation's Tom?
No one.
shareIt is impossible to have a Tom Cruise today. Social media made sure of it. The reason Cruise got so popular was because of Paula Wagner, who kept his crazy at bay and hidden for 20 years. The moment he fired her, we had the Katie Holmes incident and all hell breaking lose.
shareKatie's career also went down.
shareUnderstandable...

It checks out.
shareShe has the career she was always going to have. She was never (going to be) a top tier actress.
shareShe was in "Batman Begins" which could have been the start of something. That's when she met Tom.
shareYeah I imagine her turning down the opportunity to reprise her role as Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight is the biggest regret of her acting career.
shareShe was still riding the tails of Dawson's Creek, young and cute. Anyone could have played that part.
shareIts not fair to include stunts, because he literally is in a league of his own in that department.
shareHollywood’s time is over.
Cruise came at a time that was at the tail end of old Hollywood and the dawn of the digital age. He was able to harness the energies of both. No one since then has the instincts about cultural zeitgeists or fashion. If it isn’t just his own intelligence guiding him, he must be surrounded by extremely prescient people.
Also in his favor is that he is an interesting figure on screen. It isn’t good looks either, there have been more attractive actors running around during his current time. He just has an aura about him like the old golden age stars.
Exactly. There's just something about him that gives him star appeal. I think it helps that he's done drama, comedy and action.
shareYes, I don’t know what it is but he has a presence. He could have been a movie star no matter what the decade.
Years ago people kept going on about Tom Hanks being like Jimmy Stewart. But I never saw it. In my opinion, it is Cruise who is the most like Stewart.
I don't know, but he's a 100% creep. I do agree he is a good actor.
I'd say Brad Pitt far more to my liking, choice of roles,
That’s because masculinity is dying. We replaced men with soy boys.
I mean look at the so called “leading men” today. Tom Holland? Timothy Chalamet?
They’re all effete.
