Is there a song that makes you cry when you hear it, or at least makes you feel emotional, whether it ties you back to a memory or there's just something about the song that gets you?
Only a couple of songs have ever made me cry and this is one of them.
Reading through the old posts reminded me of an Elvis song, his American Trilogy. I can never listen to that without crying. It seems extra poignant because his death was so near. It almost seems like he is saying goodbye.
I love The Eagles and "Wasted Time" is such a great song...part of the masterpiece that is "Hotel California." ❤️
Did you ever watch the TV show "Cold Case?" With your love and knowledge of music, I have a feeling you'd like it if you haven't watched it (although it was a pretty depressing/sad show at times). Anyway, my wife and I watched this show together when we were first married...a couple of the sad endings really got to us:
Also, I could pick several songs by Karen Carpenter, but I'll choose this one ("Solitaire"). Such a massively talented lady, but it seems like she was so unhappy in her personal life, unfortunately. I love this song...this one brought some tears to my eyes around 20-25 years ago:
I thought about you when I posted Wasted Time because I knew you loved the Eagles. 😊 I've never watched Cold Case but always appreciate a show with a great soundtrack.
All great entries, but the Karen Carpenter one is the one that got me. I just love their music. If only she could have realized how beautiful she was in every way.
Awesome! I do love The Eagles and how kind of you to reference that. "Wasted Time" is definitely one of Don Henley's finest moments (and he has a bunch of them, both solo and with The Eagles). I've always wondered if he had someone specific in mind when he sang it.
And agreed again about Karen Carpenter. Just one of the saddest stories of our lifetimes. She's probably my favorite overall singer, male or female...what a voice she had.
Thank you so much for sharing that song. I was very close to my grandmothers and still think about them often. Sometimes I even feel like I sense their presence. It's beautiful that you have a song that makes you think of her. I'm sorry for your loss.
