shareI think, this is off the top of my head, back in 1985
A guy named David Lee Roth did a cover of a song called...
"Just a Gigolo"
I'm hearing in my head - Roth singing - "People know the part Dave's playing"
I could be wrong though, and I'm not going to look up the song cuz I couldn't stand it (or DLR) even back then.
If someone does take a listen of it, I would like to know if I'm right - thanks.
Gosh, that song would always get stuck in my head... He left Van Halen to be a movie star!
shareYeah, a lot of good that did him, hahaahah
Roth ended up having one successful solo album, and then quickly faded away.
Eddie went on with Sammy Hagar. WHich was fine, however....
I do have to say, even today, I prefer Van Halen over Van Hagar.
And btw, do you know if I was right? RE: "Just a Gigolo"
I don't know about the lyrics. I tried listening to Roth's solo stuff and could never get into it.. I also never got into Van Hagar partly because his voice isn't appealing to me, but I felt the music was unoriginal and "soft", but disguised with a lot of distortion and guitar solos.
I would recommend Hagar's book, though. I've read almost every related Van Halen book. Alex is releasing "Brothers" in October.
Sounds good - thank you.
shareThat song is my life’s theme song. :-)
shareSupremes, "Back in my arms again". Diana mentions Flo and Mary in the lyrics.

Here are 3 that haven't been named yet:
1) Survivor - "Eye Of The Tiger"..."and the last known survivor stalks its prey in the night...." Pretty clever how they worked that line into the song!
2) In the "Eagles Live" version of "Life's Been Good," Joe Walsh changes the lyrics to..."I make hit records, my fans they can't wait. They write Tim letters and tell Glenn Don's great." Referencing the other 4 Eagles at the time... Timothy B. Schmitt, Glenn Frey, Don Felder, and Don Henley. Back when The Eagles had a sense of humor about things....
3. "I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight" - Boyce & Hart. Right before the last verse, Tommy Boyce says, "Alright Bobby, let's go...." I just love how he says that... it's like when Mark Knopfler says, "Take 'er down" right before the outro of "So Far Away." It really adds a lot to the song.
