What's the saddest movie ending for you?

For me, it's gotta be Atonement (2007). Without giving away anything, that ending genuinely made me sad for a bunch of fictional characters.

It honestly broke my heart.

The Elephant Man (1980)

Oh, that's quite the heartbreaker

Shout out to The Incredible Shrinking Man, 1957

Oh yes...when he says at "I still exist" it brings tears to my eyes (I'm not joking)

Maybe 'Mask' (1985). I haven't seen it since I was a kid, though. I cried my eyes out at the time. Maybe I'd have a totally different perspective as an adult.

The scene of the mother's murder in Heavenly Creatures (1994) has always haunted me because it looked so realistic.

Same experience here with Hachi. Never ever gonna rewatch that, ever!

Don't get me wrong, it's a really good film but yeah, never revisiting it ever again.

Why did you have to make me think about it?!?!?! Now the memories are flooding back, Dammit!

reply

THAT DAMN DOG SPENT HIS WHOLE LIFE WAITING FOR HIS MASTER TO GET OFF THAT TRAIN.😭

reply

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles has sad elements to the ending, but overall I think it's a positive one, with a lot of love and connections and friendships.

reply

TRUE...BUT I CRY LIKE A BABY REGARDLESS.

reply

Understandable. I get that.
