Do you agree with hunting?
Hunting for fun, (not for survival or protection of farm livestock.)

Actual hunting for food I don't have any issue with. But the tourist thing where they put the "hunter" in a hide with a rifle and then herd an animal right in front of him to shoot? Nope, that's not hunting.
shareIs hunting and fishing fun? Of course it is. I just got home from being in my boat all day fishing and enjoying nature.
Hunters and fishermen are the largest group of conservationist in the United States. We don’t want our way of life to disappear so we preserve the habit so every year available game will hopefully increase.
Do you know why there are more trees in the USA now then in 1900? Because people who cut trees also plant them. It’s the same with hunting and fishing. In the early 1900’s the waterfowl population in North America was being decimated to feed the need in France. Presently Duck populations are flourishing because of hunters and conservation. Every boat registration, hunting license, WMA permit or whatever’s fees go in part to wildlife conservation, and that is massive.
Now, I don’t believe in wasting game just for the hell of it either. If your going to hunt or fish it should be for food or to stop destructive animals. If anything, those who eat a Big Mac are more cruel than a hunter. We’ve all seen the footage of how animals are abused in these massive slaughter farms. The way an animal should be taken is in the wild. It’s lived it’s whole life in a natural way and it’s killed for food. That’s what happens in the animal world every day anyway. You clean it and prepare the meal. It’s better for the animal and the person eating it in every way.
So yes, hunting should be fun, but I don’t agree with some asshole shooting an elephant to get a picture.
great post. i agree with every word of it.
shareNo.
shareWell I’m not going to do it. I felt bad when I shot a bird with a pellet gun as a teen. But I don’t frown at people who hunt either.
shareTrophy hunting 👎👎👎 is sick. For food or necessary culling, I'm okay with. My dad LOVED deer hunting. He hunted with bow and arrow, and for him, I think it was more about getting out in the woods and using his skills to track deer and have a shot. For all the years of hunting he did (probably over 50) instances of actually bagging a deer were few and far between. I remember only one occasion, but he was hunting before I was born. And yes, he always used the meat or gave it away.
shareHunting is something I associate with the 19th Century, the days of the pioneers. I have absolutely no interest in it nor understand why it's still popular. I'm not opposed to it (with the exception of trophy hunting); I just don't get it.
shareIt’s in the feeling of the entire experience all the way from the hunt to the meal. Its the most humane and healthy process if you eat meat. It’s actually spiritual in a way also.
shareI'm assuming you eat meat, so I'm curious if you know where it comes from? What I don't get is why so many people have no problem supporting the factory farming industry, which is by far more cruel than shooting.
shareYes, I know where meat comes from. What kind of question is that? I never said I opposed the activity with the exception of wasteful trophy hunting.
I just don't understand the appeal of it.
The appeal is being in nature, harvesting your own food from the wild, opposed to supporting an unethical industry where the animals suffer. I get the same feeling from growing my own vegetables in the summer.. Its a very satisfying feeling to be able to provide for yourself. People also fish for this very same reason.
shareI could not do it. I see deer everyday and they are so beautiful.
shareI do not see deer often, but I completely agree with this sentiment.
Reminds me of a line from Otto von Bismarck here (35 seconds of clip)

A favorite scene from a favorite comedy. Marisa Tomei won my heart in this performance, consistently cute, sexy and charismatic!
shareYou go, girl!
