Why are rich people hated?

I never understood this. Everyone always tries to make enough money for themselves and their family, even for future generations to not have to worry about. But when they become rich, people get so angry. If someone is a trust fund baby they are called privileged. If someone worked hard for their money and opened a trust fund for their kids, how is that a privilege? They earned that money. It's like people want you to work hard
to make just enough to get by, then once you reach a certain amount, you're considered privileged and a showoff.

This obviously doesn't include people who bend tax rules or launder money. This is about people who have worked hard for it and did it in a moral way.

reply

If they would give me all of their money then I would love them.

I promise.

LOL

reply

Cause I'm a Commie and I hate capitalism

reply

Honestly, I generally don't like when people outright hate socialism and capitalism. Both can work together.

reply

Yeah I'm sure there's a happy medium in there somewhere

reply

Jealousy

reply

Why are rich people hated? Let's ask Lori Loughlin !

reply

They live in bubbles of country clubs and gated communities. They are always bragging about some new expensive new thing they bought. They take vacations several times a year, some to exotics places and some as mere getaways to places like Turks and Caicos. Their kids go to private schools, have tutors, spend summers sailing and ziplining at exclusive camps, and become valued athletes at expensive club sports. They get into ivy league colleges with mediocre grades through legacy, get plum internships at Fortune 500 companies, and glide into six figure jobs through their parents network of connections and clout. Maybe they had a great-grandparent who once worked hard for the money, but a lot of these families cruise Easy Street for generations.

reply

Why do you care? What business is it of your? If everyone was nearly equally poor (y'know, like in pure socialism), you'd be jealous of your neighbor because he has 3 goats and you have 2. Instead of praying for another goat, you pray for one of his to die.

reply

Not about me. Just listing reasons that drive up feelings of hatred. Rigged systems will cause resentment and will cause backlash movements, like *gasp* pure socialism.

reply

Very well. Then replace all instances of "you" in my post with "they."

reply

The whole notion of redistributing wealth doesnΒ΄t work. ThatΒ΄s why a huge % of poor people that win the lotto end up going broke pretty quickly. Same deal with NBA players.

reply

Wow. That's about as effed up reasoning as anyone could come up with.

reply

Why? Because its true?

reply

I see it as saying poor people and NBA players don't deserve to have $$ because they don't know how to handle it. Some bizarre elitist notion that poor people don't deserve to have good fortune handed to them because they don't deserve it. (sic)

reply

It has nothing to do with who deserves what. It's just evidence that poor people make stupid financial decisions with new found wealth and not everything should be blamed on "unfair" governments/society.

reply

I think the bigger question is why are poor people hated?

reply

Yes, there are definitely more important questions than why do people hate the rich.
-Why are poor people poor?
-When did people start thinking the amount of money you have equates your value?
-Why do some people think making more money means you worked harder?
-Does having a lot of money take away your compassion for anyone that has less than you?
-What does jealousy have to do with survival?
-Why does being a theif mean Robin Hood isn't a hero? Is the crime of stealing from the wealthy to feed the poor worse than being wealthy and watching people starve to death when you could've fed them?
-Why does helping the poor mean sticking it to the rich?

Is money in any way helping us evolve as a species?

reply

I agree, as those are definitely more important questions than the one presented by the OP, after all, people always hate people for all kinds of different reasons.

All the money, power, and material possessions will not buy us a single extra day of life and we will not take any of it when we are gone from this mortal coil.

reply

It's very simple: jealousy and stupidity.

😎

reply

I can’t say I’m jealous of anyone who runs pedophile rings.

reply

99.9999999% of rich people do not do that.

😎

reply

Amazing. Do you have some kind of source for this statistic? Are you saying only .0000001% of Hollywood are pedophiles/rapists? You sound incredibly naive. Or just dense.

reply

First of all, that was obviously a guess. Duh.

And we weren't discussing Hollyweird, dumb ass. We were discussing rich people. Hollyweird is only a small subset of rich people. So okay I'll revise that to 99.99999%. Happy now?

reply

You left out an i in the brackets.

reply

Yes I did. Fixed it, thanks.
