Do you guys still watch movies for an actor/ actress you love ?

Since almost the end of the 2000s people stoped watching films for actors it’s actually 2009 when the movie stars era ended.

But some of us still go to the movies to watch certain actors we love and find hot. Well at least I do once in a while for Chris Hemsworth and RDJ.

Yes I did watch MIB for Hemsworth and DoLitttle for RDJ and liked both.

I’m not gonna say they are masterpieces or underrrated but I did have a good time watching both though dolittle it is mostly a kids movie but I did like it as an adult.

Now maybe I would have skipped that if it wasn’t for RDJ I have to admit but don’t regret it watching it at all

But What about you guys do you still watch movies for some specific actors or not anymore. ?

i will watch anything with Melissa Benoist, Melanie Laurent, Nicola Peltz.

I’m so surprised for all the yes here.

This implies the movie star era is really not completely over, not as dominating as in the 90s but good to see people still go to the movies for some actors.

Yes, it's not totally over. But look at all the different choices of the movie stars... it's very different than in the 90s when everyone, litterally EVeRyONe would say Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Arnold, Stallone and Bruce Willis.

Certain actors will draw me to check out their movie, but doesn't necessarily get me to watch it. There are some genres I just don't care for, so I'd be highly unlikely to watch them.

Yeah I do have the genre exception too, well just one horror. It’s the only genre I avoid like a plague.

I won't do horror either. I can have nightmares without it - no need to "provoke" them.

65-35% for actors... once in a while I watch something that a story I find interesting but if I find a new favourite actor you can be sure I can be able to get many movies he/she has done. Now I want to do that with Michael J. Fox and Julian Mcmahon.

Yes, if I really like an actor, I will watch him/her in anything.

Actors or directors are the main reasons I watch most movies also.

Not always.
If I see Liam Neeson, Denzel Washington or whomever I really like on the poster I’m watching the movie.

However, in the past.....

When Robert De Niro was in his prime, I'd watch a movie just because he was in it.

I did the same with Philip Seymour Hoffman.

In the present...

De Niro is way past it - in fact, I think he should hang it up.
