Simple pleasures you enjoy?

Some of mine:
A fireside cup of hot cocoa on a cold day.
Watching children playing outside.
Stretching out on the chaise lounge on a summer day. (A cold adult beverage adds to the ambiance. 😁)
Listening to a favorite song on the radio.
Discovering and reading a good book.
Looking at Christmas lights around the neighborhood.
Watching the snow fall.
A walk in the park.
Watching puppies play.
Going for a bike ride.
Window-shopping. Just looking, not buying anything.
The arrival of spring.

I held a baby today at the neighbors house. A six month old boy. He was playing with the buttons on my shirt and then he would look at me and laugh. I haven't held a baby in years. He took a liking to me.

reply

Awww. Babies are the best!

reply

Cute story
Babies are great
I raised two and man was I nervous the whole time!

reply

I wish I had had one more. A girl. 😟

reply

I won the baby Lotto and we had a girl then a boy
They are 12 and 11 now, the loves of my life

You had all boys?
Boys can be real house wreckers...My little man has busted everything around here twice!

How many lads do you have?

reply

We were only able to have one.

reply

Copy that Amigo
If the little fellow is close to as fine as his Daddyo he is a proper Gent for sure

reply

He's 26 now and an engineer. He didn't give us any major problems except for that baggy pants phase about 10 years ago. πŸ™‚πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

reply

LOL!
My little dude is not quite there yet but he will surely annoy me with his 'look' in a few more years

He just recently called me out about the whole 'Santa Thing...'
I think he has known for a couple of years but he really called me out the other day about Santa...the boy can really lecture when he gets going

I did not budge but I suspect he is on to me

reply

Sounds like he is caught between wanting to expose the great mystery and being afraid of cutting off the loot train.

reply

Exactly!
But I am not ready...I want my little sweethearts to believe in magic and miracles for a bit longer...

The other day my little man asked me why I had candy and toys in my gun closet
He snooped and looked under the gap between my locked up closet door and the floor and saw candy and presents...I have been hiding gifts for my family in my gun closet for years!

Much like his mom he is too smart for me

There's no accounting for taste.

I like when I'm alone on the road

I like this and can relate to it big time. Thousands upon thousands of miles in my rear view mirror all across the magnificently diverse landscape of this country ( safely covered , I might add ).

There is something about the wheel in your hands and a fat tank of gas on a lonely road that just feels right...I drove all around my county two weeks ago, cold night setting in, not sure why I did it but the woods do look pretty at night
Got myself lost and alone for two hours...it's a fine thing driving alone in the dark through the woods

Thanks for the link
I said 'Hey, that's Kris Kristofferson' out loud and I'm all alone in my freezing garage just now LOL!

In the same vein, here's another : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO-Dmpw_w2c

reply

Very cool tune
Fine driving music, you seem to hit the bullseye very often bud

reply

" The wind was my mother, the highway is my brother"

Hard to beat lyrics like that when you love the open road.

reply

Agreed

The road under your wheels at speed feels amazing, the skidding on potholes is quite a thrill

Some dope is always claiming that the world is going to end...I do not believe that for a minute

But if that should happen I would not mind having ALL of the gasoline and a million miles to drive...
I hope the rock radio still works

reply

I remember this song---It was kind of weird.

Rum and Diet Cola

Love it! (minus the Diet part)

reply

You drink rum and real coke?
Man, I have done that but it was just too sweet for me
I like the diet cola in my rum, regular cola gives me a bellyache

reply

The only booze I will never knowingly purchase is that super high proof rum. I don't drink much rum anyway, but I don't know how to make a weak drink (what's the point?, and that stuff is sick-making. Maybe some day I'll go to a bar and ask for a 151 rum and coke, but stop at one and leave right after.

The smell of rain drizzling on asphalt.
Watching dogs play in the snow.
Squeezing a lime wedge onto fresh tacos.
Performing a pristine soft shuffle on a new deck of cards.
Slicing into a fresh baked pizza.

reply

I like your rain on the asphalt one...I thought nobody else liked that!

Pizza...yep, that's a winner too!

reply

Dogs playing in the snow! Agree 100%!

Some other pleasures of mine;

Baking my favorite chocolate pound cake with chocolate glaze, and then having a great time licking the bowl and the mixers afterwards.(yum, yum)

Seeing the trees and bushes gradually turn green in the spring.

reply

I think one of your simple pleasures is ragging on Tonya Harding every chance you get !
HAHAHA XD

reply

I’m recycling an old post of mine here.

Summer and everything associated with it:

Warm weather
Long days and short nights
Being able to leave all the windows open and having the scent of fresh air throughout the house
Summer fruits like watermelon, nectarines and plums
Farm fresh corn and tomatoes
The scent of mowed grass
Baseball
Barbecue
Fireworks

reply

Hey, recycling is a good thing. Open windows is my favorite, and you can't beat fireworks!

reply

I love you !

reply

Another good list.

😎

reply

All of those except I don’t own a bike

reply

β€”The sound of sprinklers on hot summer night
β€”crisp linen sheets
β€”the smell of clean laundry when it comes out of the dryer
β€”a basket full of puppies
β€”the little kiss noise a sugar cube makes when I drop it in my tea
β€”the reflection of traffic lights on wet pavement at night

reply

Joni Mitchell titled one of her albums The Hissing Of Summer Lawns. I think that was referring to sprinkler systems on LA lawns in the Summer Time.

reply

The dead silence at 3 am
A piping hot cup of tea
A new bar of soap
Rain pelting against the windows
Wind chimes ringing during a storm
The howl of a bloodhound
A crisp, cold, starry night
A full moon
A flock of geese flying in formation, honking
Crickets chirping on a summer night
Fireflies on a summer night
Hearing distant thunder, wondering if it’s heading my way
Thunderstorms
Seeing an owl in the wild

[deleted]

What was said then deleted about my delightful little list?

reply

No clue, it is a nice list though

I'm not huge on tea but the rest of it was very solid
I love explosive, approaching thunder and the Owls calling each other through the dark, rain beating down on the roof and windows and very brisk nights spent star-gazing...
Perfect and happy memories right there!

Silence at 3 AM...hell yeah!
I love the very late nights when nobody is around...The world makes a lot of sense when it's not cluttered up with people

I have never met a Bloodhound but I intend too...I have heard very good things about them

Crickets and Fireflies...nothing more peaceful to hear and see out on the patio on a hot night

Fine list Entwickler:)

reply

Thanks ShogunofYonkers! Your list is nice too, especially the rabbits, rum and coke, rock n roll, and meeting nice people on MovieChat πŸ™‚
