Rock's origins are mostly in classical and folk music, neither of which are black culture. The problem with your logic is that you could also say that blacks "culturally appropriated" music that came before them as well. Yes, they all would've seen it, and yes Mark-Paul Gosselaar & Mario Lopez & both dated her in real life so I'd imagine it wasn't a big deal to see her on the pole. You've got to hand it to Elizabeth Berkley, she was the only one of the show's cast to try for a movie career. If you watch the episode 'Jessie's Song', it's basically her audition for this movie, I mean she basically has a nervous breakdown in that episode and her character in Showgirls is basically a spin off from that. At least she gave it a go. Forced DEI casting tends to have that effect on you. A black roman emperor is like a white Dalai Lama. It's ridiculous. He probably does approve considering Jurassic Park was a film that hardly anyone would've watched if it didn't have CGI dinosaurs in it. He practically invented the sfx driven movie industry. Along with Hunting High & Low, those are pretty much their only good songs.
It's overdone, mostly generic
Well, that's nine inch nails for you. They sucked, though. I wouldn't put too much thought into it. It was basically a manufactured ending done solely to shock the audience, like what the hack m night shamalfucker does. 90s ragebait. Kim Basinger, and then everyone else. The Sandlot is a bit over melodramatic, and mighty ducks is goofy with all those annoying kids. Little Giants was better than both, Louis Tully & Al Bundy = winning combination. Too late. It needed to be made in the pre-woke era to be any good, as nowadays characters and scripts are written with an agenda, and actors are cast to meet quotas, namely 'less white male' quotas. I've got both on dvd, Graffiti lacks substance & THX is awful plus I think Lucas went back and CGI'd it like the madman he is. The only good thing about Graffiti is that it basically financed Star Wars. I never really liked that movie much, just driving around. John Milner was cool. I've noticed how much of a popular cult movie that BR has become over the years, folk were pretty dedicated to it on the old imdb boards. I'm sure fans love the depth to the main characters, how real they feel as opposed to the cardboard cut outs in Nolan's efforts. It has gotten a lot better over the years, tbf. Empire and Star Wars are basically Godfather 1 & 2, almost nothing to separate them. George Lucas - Star Wars (1977)
I haven't seen that movie
You can watch it for free on this site if you have the stomach for it: https://m.ok.ru/video/2997422590662
Sharon Stone fan, huh?
She isn't the greatest of actresses, but she's interesting to watch, and cut from the same cloth as Kathleen Turner & Kim Basinger ie statuesque bombshells/femme fatales that I just don't see anymore in films. Pfieffer was a much better catwoman than Halle Berry and Ann Hathaway, I'll give her that. What hurt Batman Returns wasn't Pfeiffer, it was Burton taking too much creative control, there wasn't enough action and too much weird, and it led directly to the fiascos of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
but she would not have been believable as a romantically frustrated mousy secretary.
She played a part similar to that in a film called 'Scissors' which came out a year before Batman Returns. The movie itself was horrendous and unwatchable, but she was convincing as a paranoid shut in. Yes. Did you see her Total Recall? She had the sweet/bad angle down like no other actress at that time, which is perfect for catwoman, and as attractive as Michelle Pfieffer is, she's not in Stone's league. Stone would've been perfect as catwoman, not only because she's in the same league as Kim Basinger, but she was born to play duplicitous characters and could also fight convincingly on camera (as seen in Total Recall). Unfortunately she was probably filming dogshit like basic instinct at that time.
