Actually if I remember correctly, we were told months in advanced. I have a certain memory because I started using imdb and looking at the message boards shortly before it shut down. I was upset knowing that they were drawing to a close each day that I would check. Everyone wanted to bring the imdb boards back, but to no avail.
I'm not sure if a specific reason was ever given to the reason the boards were shut down, but it did seem to be a lot more civil back then. Sure, it still had trolls, maybe it was even full of them, but the people that brought up really good discussions and asked genuine questions about movies make up for those that would make me "mad." not even really mad but the ones that are enjoyable to converse with make it worthwhile.
nearly every post is something like "this movie is woke because it has *gasp* diversity in it (as if that's something new) or main characters that aren't white in a modern movie.
with that said, I do think social messaging/pandering is very much shoved in our faces all over the place so it drives people to the point of paranoia.
I know what you mean. Drawing in an audience and money making movies really isn't the same like it is with Tom Cruise.
Tom Holland seems like he's going to have a really successful career outside of the MCU. I know a lot of people will go to see anything just because he's in it.
I dunno, twilight IS pretty bad, but I watch it anyways because there are things about it that I like
adam sandler was in that? I don't remember at all
I liked that one. it really wasn't that bad.
I could provide you plenty of reasons
I liked that movie, even though it's very dark, it was a good story
I love the eddie murphy dolittle movie! it's the only version I've watched honestly, and a lot of people hate that one too.
A borderline old maid would be more considered in her late twenties, but yes at the young age of 19 a young woman would be typically rushed into marriage
no no please not a fifth no no no no
1. Toy Story
2. Toy Story 3
3. Toy Story 2
I try to pretend toy story 4 doesn't exist :-) ( I won't even watch it)
hello I'm waving to you
lmao
Thanks! The Dead Milkmen, eh?
It at least works because people tended to look older back then and even though she certainly looked her age and not 19, she played the part very well so it's excusable in my book.
honestly I can agree that you are moviechat royalty. I remember you as the iconic all caps user.
It's sad, but that's the way life was back then. both men and women were expected to marry. well, it isn't a sad reality that people want to get married, but the sad part is they feel like they have to. function in society and climb up a social ladder. anyways, I think it was just specifically a big part of the plot in this story. It isn't like they would be talking about marriage all the time. we just see the scenes when they do.
My point is that the original forums on imdb are way better than this site could ever be and if moviechat is basically the only one, it's still pretty bad. I only use it for very specific reasons, but yeah. it came across my mind that my statement would seem that way lol.
nope, but it's about the only one.
I miss the imdb message board days so much :(
