Most of the racing scenes/shots were real but there were a few CGI shots. There was a really bad one during the Dubai Autodrome crash scene with the gold Lamborghini. Also think they recreated the Mulsanne straight in CGI in some parts, mostly because they weren't able to film at Le Mans outside of a number of shots. Also it really took me out of the movie to see the Hungaroring dressed up as Le Mans. Sorry but even "LE MANS" plastered on the final corner doesn't make it Le Mans when the layout is completely different. I do wonder if it was laziness, budget cutting or truly just not practical to film there. But it definitely felt silly to hype up Le Mans so much and then resort to trickery instead of actually shooting there, outside of a handful of shots. Other than that, obviously the car transforming to/from a gaming chair/wheel scenes were CGL but for the most part I think the movie did pretty well in actually filming racing scenes for real. Need for Speed was really bad. Gran Turismo is just bad. So GT wins. Racing drivers do not carry cell phones in their driving suits. I'm quite certain they don't even have pockets, but either way why would anyone race with their phone on them? Nope. Overthinking it. Just saw it yesterday. I would say it's a solid 8/10 and a pretty emotional watch. I think the message of the film is more powerful than the movie itself, which is closer to your usual mass market kind of arc and storytelling than something truly remarkable. But it's certainly a movie that engages you and keeps you invested in the characters and resolution of the story, pulling at your heart strings most of the way. But really the most effective part, which I think is the true intention, is it truly makes you aware of how real the child trafficking industry is which is absolutely terrifying. "You come off weird, but you're smart." It's kind of the point of the movie. I rewatched it tonight and in the very first shot of Ruffalo I thought to myself, damn he'd make a spot on Columbo. You have the answer in your own question. 2002 - 33 = ?
Confusion #1 - wasn't Mr. B dead for at the very least a few days at this time? Who posted it?
I believe it was Callie herself that posted it. Along with tending to the flowers, newspapers, etc. it was her idea to post his unsent mail to keep up the illusion he was still alive. From what I gathered, it wasn't hinted that she read what was inside the letters but just posted what were probably already sealed envelopes. Lol I had this thought as well as I watched from home. "This must've been a terrible movie to watch in theatre... all the noises from others around you." Probably a unique experience at least. View all replies >
