Is it really good or is it kinda "preachy" and...

and is the high rating due to a group (maybe religious people, idk) supporting the movie?

Or is this actually an +8.5/10 movie?

reply

Wondering that as well. Cavaziel usually puts in a good perfomarnce but getting mixed feelings about this one.

reply

Check it out and see. It will likely be free to stream in a few months.

reply

Janster, it's a QAnon wacko film about Washington pols like Hillary Clinton raping babies and sacrificing children to The Devil.

reply

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's a good one. Not sure if you've seen it and are joking or if you actually think that's what it's about.

reply

The hero of the movie is QAnon. The actor Cavaziel is a QAnon Christian fundie extremist.

It's QAnon agitprop. I don't trust it to be accurate.

QAnon actually believes Hillary Clinton is a Satan worshiper who drinks baby's blood.

Hillary Clinton directly appeals to QAnon to stop claiming she drinks children’s blood: ‘It’s painful to me and my family’

https://news.yahoo.com/hillary-clinton-directly-appeals-qanon-153821284.html

reply

I had a feeling you haven't seen it. It has nothing to do with Hillary Clinton or Satan worshippers or Democrats or Republicans. With all due respect you are so off the mark here.

There's too much proof it is accurate, as upsetting as that is. Child trafficking is HUGE and we all - no matter what our political beliefs are - should be concerned about it and be educated about it.

This is the organization Ballard founded, they do such phenomenal work. I never heard of it until I saw the movie: https://ourrescue.org/

This is a documentary filmed a few of years ago. Everything is real. It was an operation in Haiti in cooperation with the Haitian government. Ballard actually adopted two of the children from the "brothel" that were rescued. It's amazing! I watched it last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q8dYM90PJA

This is true. The Woke Mob has opposed it because it challenges their radical left world view.

👍👍

I haven't seen the movie, but it has associations with QAnon and they're just not a credible source.

Why Anti-Trafficking Experts Are Torching ‘Sound of Freedom’

The new movie offers a "false perception" of child trafficking that experts worry could further harm the real victims

reply

There is no question, however, as to the number of children he's rescued or how many deviants his team has captured. His organization works with people all over the world, as well as with local law enforcement in the U.S., helping them prosecute offenders.

We can agree to disagree on this I guess.

Edited to add: Sometimes it's the most unconventional ones who get the best results 🙂

No it's not. You are either an idiot or a troll. Stop telling lies.

You should know me better than that by now. 🤬

The Clintons intervened and helped get a gang of child traffickers, who were caught in Haiti trying to smuggle 33 kids out the country after the earthquake.

The last one to be released's name was Laura Silsby, though she has since changed it via marriage and now works for the company that makes the software for the Amber Alert system. Pretty useful job for a human trafficker.

reply

The Clintons intervened to catch the child traffickers?

And are you saying Silsby is helping human traffickers at Amber Alert?

reply

No, the traffickers had already been arrested having been caught with 33 kids in a hotel room that they were trying to smuggle over the border. The Clintons intervened to have the traffickers freed.

If you were a trafficker of children, wouldn't you like to have a job at a place that sends out alerts for things like stolen children so you can get a heads up or maybe obfuscate where they might be if it's your gang that took them?

reply

Are the Clintons or Laura Silsby mentioned in the movie?

How do you know Silsby was a trafficker?

reply

No, they aren't mentioned because the movie is only about Tim Ballard's story.

Because Silsby was caught in a hotel room with the 33 kids and was jailed for it.

I think he's just being a asshole there.

😐

reply

It's totally not about that

reply

Okay. But it's QAnon. How can you trust the accuracy?

I linked some of their beliefs. I'm not a Hillary Clinton fan. But QAnon claims she's a devil worshiper who drinks children's blood.

They're not a credible source.

reply

I don't trust the accuracy of any movie "based on a true story." This movie is no different.

The OP asked if it's a good movie, not if it's a good depiction of real events.

reply

You obviously have not seen the film. Nothing that you mentioned is in the movie.

You should not spread misinformation.

reply

It's about a QAnon "hero" and the lead actor is a "Christian" who sympathizes with QAnon.

And it's a rather sleazy topic - child trafficking.

Sounds like sexploitation to me.

No, I obviously won't be seeing it.

reply

You should watch the documentary that I linked to below to see what OUR really does. Perhaps then you would feel differently.

That is, unless you're a psychopath who delights in the abuse of kids.

reply

Okay, I watched the trailer. Important topic. The issue needs to be addressed in Congress. I'm still not sure what's the purpose of the movie.

reply

I appreciate you watching the trailer and learning a bit more about what OUR does. I actually reside in the state that OUR was founded in and have done some volunteer work for them. It is a great organization with a lot of good people involved.

If you watch the interviews that Tim Ballard and Caviezel have done, they make it clear that the point of the movie is to raise awareness regarding how serious and widespread the issue of human trafficking really is, and that hopefully by raising awareness more people will join the fight to fix the problem.

reply

A movie that condemns child sex trafficking preachy?

Hmmm. I would think a movie like this would bring people together.

reply

Yeah, I cannot believe that there is any type of controversy around this film. The only ones I would ever imagine that would be against it would be pedophiles and trafficking operators. I am astounded by the reactions of otherwise decent people around this movie, many of whom haven't even seen it. It's mind boggling.

Amen!

America, and the western world more broadly, has gone insane over the past 15 or so years, with this decline into madness really accelerating over the past 5 years or so. It's very weird how different things are.

I am reminded of Isaiah 5:20: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" It seems like there are now a whole lot more people than their used to be calling evil good, and good evil.

reply

You're absolutely right, although I would describe it as weird AND terrifying.

reply

It is indeed weird AND terrifying. I'm sure if the Founding Fathers could see us today, they'd insist we call for another revolution.

reply

It does. It's powerful and gut wrenching. You should see it, and then tell your family and friends about it.

😐

reply

Just saw it yesterday. I would say it's a solid 8/10 and a pretty emotional watch. I think the message of the film is more powerful than the movie itself, which is closer to your usual mass market kind of arc and storytelling than something truly remarkable.

But it's certainly a movie that engages you and keeps you invested in the characters and resolution of the story, pulling at your heart strings most of the way. But really the most effective part, which I think is the true intention, is it truly makes you aware of how real the child trafficking industry is which is absolutely terrifying.

reply

Yes, precisely!

😐

reply

It's actually a 9.5 in my book. It's powerful and gut wrenching. Did you know that there are more people in slavery now than when it was legal? And millions of them are children sold into sex slavery. I was not previously aware of this.

You should see this film, and encourage your family and friends to see it also. I was so impressed that I sent money to the studio at angel.com/freedom to buy tickets for people to see it. As Steve Jobs once said, "The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller."

Note: Pay no attention to the Woke Morons who are attacking this film. It challenges their ultra left view of the world.

If you want to see the real-life Tim Ballard and Operation Underground Railroad in action, you can watch the documentary Operation Toussaint.

I saw it last night and would say that it's legitimately a good movie. Granted, this is the kind of movie you only need to see once; it's not like Aliens, Tombstone, etc., wherein you'll want to watch it 100 times and regularly quote it.

Setting aside the heavy subject matter, I didn't find myself bored and the acting was fine. I was even surprised that a movie like this would have such a colorful supporting character in the form of Bill Camp as former cartel money launderer Vampiro.

As for preachiness, there are some emotional scenes obviously. One of the children produced a necklace of St. Timothy ("Timoteo") after Tim Ballard revealed his name, and the child later gave him the necklace when they parted ways, so it was a little sappy but it wasn't unforgivable given the context.

reply

Regarding Vampiro, if you're interested, OUR just put out a couple of short videos on the real guy:

Pt. 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsZFOf4oJfY

Pt. 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfSKprf4Kok

reply

It's honestly not preachy. I think God is mentioned maybe twice....along the lines of "God's children are not for sale." It's not a religious film.
I think the confusion comes from the fact that many involved in the film are personally religious.

And it is a good film although not necessarily a great film. But it is engaging and sometimes touching and/or pissed me off at times....and I never got bored.

reply

It's a very well-made film. You'd be shocked it was made for only $15 million. It feels like it's a $40 million movie, at least. The director really knows how much to make the most of the budget he's given and all the actors do an excellent job.
