I went to this website to start this same topic. I liked him in Hidden Figures and Top Gun…but as someone else pointed out, I see him more as a supporting actor and not the main. He’s gonna need more charisma and the perfect role to win me over as a lead actor. He comes off bland, but I’ll rooting for him.
I agree. I also thought when he said he’d be nearby that he’d actually be around the corner. My question is, they didn’t have Google back then, but did they not know what the talk show host looked like (if he was supposedly famous and all)? If Jack knew, shouldn’t he have at least informed Sally by showing her a photograph so that she didn’t have to meet up with the killer? But I get it, suspension of disbelief.
It didn’t bother me at all. I think it was supposed to add to her character how she’s naive and easily talked into things. She got tricked by her photographer partner, and then she got led into a very secluded area by John Lithgow’s character. I also found it endearing like another poster commented and I felt it more when the tragedy occurred in the end.
Definitely there’s some alien in her.
Just saw Watcher. I loved it. I’m not sure if she’s going to be an A-lister either, but she’s definitely carving her own path in the horror/thriller genre.
I agree, I’m confused about the movie as well. I don’t know why she was going back in time so much to when she left her daughters. In the end she seemed to have a good relationship with both of them. Was it traumatic for her? The reaction to the doll was excessive. I don’t get the nasty stares she was getting from the family. I just don’t get this movie. There must have been a deeper meaning and I totally missed it. It was engaging, but I just didn’t know where it was going.
Me too. It was impossible to miss that scene-stealing performance lol
2. I didn’t understand this as well, especially since they used a cell phone and not the school line to contact the authorities or emergency response team. Unless they were able to trace the call coming from Hyosan, how would they have known to cut it off? I must have missed some information from this scene.
4. I was confused why she didn’t turn out like Gwi-nam. I thought the virus would have evolved and Gwi-nam would have been the host of that variant, so anyone he bit would have been immune as well. So only he and the other girl who was bullied were immune?
6. From what I saw he was bitten on the hand. I would assume one of the construction workers bit him when he was on his way to finding On-jo.
8. In that situation, his decision would have been the rational thing to do because it was about saving the majority, but he probably found it hard to live with that choice. He still ordered to kill the citizens, who knows how many non-infected ones were bombed?
I have a question of my own which is not really relevant to the grand picture, but was the girl who got bullied (sorry, I don’t know her name) able to delete the video from the cell phone?
I thought so too. I thought she’d be typecast, but she’s done a good job so far diversifying her roles. And she’s not a bad actress. Has great presence on screen.
I agree. He should have at least narrowed down the choices to blonde girls...unless he was convinced that she was wearing a wig that night. And surely, he should have remembered her height after talking to her for at least 30 mins...even her voice. You can't be that blind or deaf, especially if you're attracted to someone. I would try to remember every detail about her.
I don't get why he left his kid by herself though. What if the ceiling fell on her?
Yea, I can’t believe how accessible it was a movie considering its content.
I wanted to laugh, but I was too busy cringing.
It was hot, though, I’ll give it that...but cringy xD
I have a crush on both. Jessica Chastain is slightly more noticed, acting-wise, but I think Bryce is a great actress too. I’ve seen her since her debut in The Village, so I’ll always have a softer spot for her. But when I watched The Help, Jessica Chastain stood out more. I still enjoyed Bryce’s performance of a mean girl. I like both actresses movie choices. They can play a diverse range of roles and genres. I think Bryce was prettier then, but she must have changed her nose because it looks different now. Overall, I can’t really pick between the two because I’ve always liked Bryce, and Jessica Chastain came after, but I like her too.
Yup, stick to the book. This adaptation did not make me happy and almost ruined my fond memories of the book. I stopped watching after 10 mins. I did not like the actors at all; not who I had in mind. I kind of pictured Kate Hudson to play the female lead when the book came out around 2003 and Luke Wilson to play the male lead. Personally—I’m gonna sound rude, but to each his own— I didn’t find the cast attractive, except maybe the lead actor. But he still wasn’t close to what I had in mind. The movie definitely missed the mark on quality. The story is supposed to be fun, light, charming and feminine; instead it was drab, postfeminist and lacked sense of humour. It seemed like it purposefully did everything in its power to not have the book’s essence, so it’s a no for me. I have strong attachments to Sophie Kinsella’s books, and it’s going to be tough to please little old me, but at least Confessions of a Shopaholic tried to give viewers and readers what they wanted. This didn’t. Staying away.
Spinal Tap for me and I agree with Modern Times. But this is one of the most under-appreciated comedies/family movies of all time. I find myself longing for it every decade. It aged well too imo.
Lol she’s unconventionally beautiful...at least to me.
Sounds good! Hope you enjoy it like we did :)
I agree. I only found out about it after searching “Lily James” on Netflix. It wasn’t Trending or anything; one would really need to dig for it to find it. And the movie was well done. Acting was superb. The chemistry was off the charts. Ending was worth it. An underrated movie.
I didn’t finish it either, but apparently we did miss the best part.
Spoiler Alert:
I read he dies in the end. Finally, they decided to shut him up.
